President Elect: Barack Obama

The results are almost all in and the next President of the United States is going to be Senator Barack Obama from Illinois. I'd be lying if I said I was happy about the results...in fact I am very disappointed.

In the words of my brother Blake, "How does a virturally unknown, untested, voted most liberal in the Senate, radical, racist get this close to the presidency? Ignorance. And it's our country's most expensive commodity and it's gonna cost us dearly." I couldn't have said it any better...God help us all.

It is amazing to me though at how far our country has come in a very short amount of time. Think about it, we are going to have the first African-American president! Even a year ago many would have said it wasn't possible...yet the voice of the people have spoken.

This blog will continue to operate and posts will continue to come. I plan to keep an eye on the future Obama administration and politics in general. It's been great being involved, researching the issues, and having the knowledge needed to make an educated decision. November 4, 2008 will forever be etched in my mind.

I am deeply saddened by the country's decision on our next president. While this historic election is being touted as proof that the racial barrier has been broken, I must disagree. During the civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr spoke of a time when men will be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. Unfortunately, that is exactly the opposite of what has happened this election. I do not care that Barack Obama is an African-American man, but that he is a severly underqualified radical socialist. Anytime those issues were brought up, the defense would be that the accuser was just being racist. Had a black man run with conservative values who was highly qualified for the office, I would pray that the people of the United States would vote for him. Yesterday I prayed for just the opposite. I still question his associations with radicals and terrorists during his adult life. I keep asking myself, how is it this man has been chosen as the best one to lead our country?

In the spirit of full disclosure, the ignorance quote I got from Rush as I am full-time student at the LIFACS - the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.

You think he is unknown - but he was on Oprah long ago, people in Illinois love this man, and if Oprah backs something. .. . . well, let's just say the woman's influence has got some serious pull!
