Mitt Romney Wins New Hampshire

As I was driving home tonight I was listening to a local talk show radio host talk about the New Hampshire primary and Mitt Romney's victory. I'm not sure about Mitt and have a lot of reservations, but as I sat there listening to his victory speech - live - I couldn't turn off the ignition to my pickup and sat in my driveway for the next ten minutes listening to what he had to say. Needless to say, I was very impressed and found myself agreeing with pretty much everything he was saying. Below is the Mitt's full speech:

One of my favorite lines from the speech:

"We have to offer an alternative vision. I stand ready to lead us down a different path. Where we're lifted up by our desire to succeed, not dragged down by a resentment of success."

Lately it seems like it's evil or dirty to be successful - the "1%" if you will - but it's those one-percent that drive this economy by creating jobs. I have the desire to be successful, to have the financial security for me and my family, to be able to give generously to those in need, and help offer others an opportunity of success as well. That is true "sharing the wealth" - not just giving a handout, giving a hand up and helping and teaching others how to be successful as well.

I hate it when politician are politicians...if that makes sense. Always making sure they say the right words or phrases to not cause any potential fallout. Playing it safe and giving "political" answers to tough questions. Mitt Romney was no different when asked by Bill O'Riley point blank if Obama is a socialist.

If anyone were to take just a small glimpse into President Obama's record and policies, there is no doubt that he is a socialist and wants the government to run every facet of your life. The biggest, most significant policy is the new health care laws and regulations, which will eventually lead to a complete takeover by the government and drive private insurance out of business. It's just a matter of time unless we get a conservative President and Congress to repeal and replace it.

Checks & Balances Out the Window

I have a three year old daughter who is very independent. When she asks me if she can do something or have something and tell her no she will immediately go to my wife (her mother) and ask her. If my wife says no, she'll put up the biggest fit and end up trying to do it anyway! Sound familiar right? I used to do this, you probably used to do it too - but usually when we grow up and become more mature we tend to grow out of such things. Not so with President Obama.

He tried to get his American Jobs bill passed. The Senate took it to the floor and it failed to pass. So Obama decided to break up key parts of the bill tacked on other pieces of legislation...that also failed. So now, because he can't get what he wants, he's just going to bypass mommy and daddy (Senate & House of Representatives) and do it "administratively." Seriously...how can he do this and get away with it? Isn't there some type of system in place to avoid this from happening? Oh wait, there is - it's call the CONSTITUTION! Apparently our public officials don't care about it and will do whatever they want when they want.

Hey Mr. President, if it doesn't pass the Senate or the House of Representatives there's probably a good reason...I don't like, it will do more harm than good! I know you are trying to fundamentally transform America into something else and this is just another piece of that puzzle, but we can't always get what we want. I find it fascinating how history tends to repeat itself. I find it even more fascinating how most of us don't even know enough about history to recognize when it's happening again. The most fascinating thing of all is that most people don't care. As long as their life remains undisturbed, the world and nation can go about without having to worry about a thing.

"All that's necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing."

That quote was by Edmund Burke and is a call for good men to stand up against the forces of evil.

If you turn on the television today to your favorite news program, you may hear some reports about the Occupy Wall Street Protests going on throughout the nation. Depending on the news station, you may find these protests as good or evil. Young and old people, whom most don't even know why they are protesting, are protesting against big corporations and the 1% wealthiest people who control the money - greed. A lot of these individuals would like to see the destruction of capitalism and have socialism/communism take it's place - or at the very least see the wealth redistributed from the rich to the poor to make everything fair and equal.

If these people knew anything about history, in order to have the luxuries of the freedoms that our country has experienced for over 200 years we must have free enterprise (i.e. capitalism).

I found an article written by Ezra Taft Benson. In 1953, Benson was appointed U.S. Secretary of Agriculture by President Eisenhower. Benson accepted this position with the permission of LDS Church President David O. McKay and therefore served simultaneously in the United States Cabinet and in the LDS Church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Benson was an outspoken opponent of communism and socialism. Through succession, Ezra Taft Benson became the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1973, and as President of the Church in 1985.

The article was given/written in 1977 - the year of my birth. I was again fascinated that while I was reading how prevalent the words applied to our time and day. The article is titled, "Freedom and Free Enterprise" (click link to view).

Here are few quotes that you may find interesting...

"It is my sober warning to you today that if the trends of the past forty years and especially the last fifteen years continue we will lose that which is as priceless as life itself: our freedom, our liberty , our right to act as free men. It can happen here, it is happening here. The outlook for free enterprise in the world has never seemed so uncertain as now."

"Today it seems evident that we are rearing a generation of Americans who do not understand the productive base of our society and how we came by such prosperity."

"The ethic of the day seems calculated to indoctrinate our citizens for a dependency on the state. Our founding fathers recognized that certain rights are inalienable, that is, God given. Today the state is looked to as the guarantor of human rights, life, liberty and property. Our forbearers practiced the biblical ethic that man should earn his bread by the sweat of his own brow. Today’s ethic seems to be that it is right to be supported by the sweat of another’s brow."

You really need to read the entire article to come to a better understanding between the two forces at play here - good and evil. Evil likes to make it look good, and that's why I think so many people, even good people, can relate to some of the messages conveyed by these Occupy Wall Street protesters. Obama Desires to Bypass Congress

From the book "The 5000 Year Leap", by W. Cleon Skousen he summarizes a few of the checks and balances set up by the American Founding Fathers. They "achieved a system of checks and balances...These included the following provisions:

The House of Representatives serves as a check on the Senate since no statute can become law without the approval of the House.
At the same time the Senate (representing the legislatures of the states before the 17th Amendment) serves as a check on the House of Representatives since no statute can become law without its approval.
A President can restrain both the House and the Senate by using his veto to send back any bill not meeting with his approval.
The Congress has, on the other hand, a check on the President by being able to pass a bill over the President's veto with a two-thirds majority of each house."

These are only a few of the checks and balances that were set up by the Founding Fathers - these are the main ones that relate to this post today. My previous post showed a 26 second video clip of President Obama telling his advisors to looks for things in the jobs bill that they can get done "administratively" without Congressional authority. In other words, to ignore the checks and balances of America's Three Headed Eagle and to pass laws without Congress. We even have representative Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) encouraging President Obama to do it as well - bypass Congress - Don't believe me? Here it from their own mouths...

Obama the Dictator

President Obama's jobs bill lived a short life and died in the Senate today. There's talk about Democrats breaking up the legislation in pieces and pushing them through a little at a time tucked away in some other bill on page 1,324 where no one will even notice until all the pieces come back together to complete the puzzle. But why wait for Congress? President Obama decided to circumvent Congress to try and get it done without their authorization. Here it from his own mouth:

Seriously! How is our President getting off the hook with this and nobody in the mainstream media questions this?...let alone even report on it? We have three branches of government for a reason - for reasons just like this! To not recognizes Congress' authority as established in the Constitution of United States in my opinion is a President NOT defending it like he should when he was sworn in as President.

The title of this post comes from an actual quote from Alessio Rastani, and Independent Trader while being interviewed on BBC News about the Eurozone Rescue Plan. He candidly said that he and other people like him don't care about the economic condition because their job is to make money. In fact, he said, when "I go to bed every night, I dream of another recession. I dream of another moment like this...People don’t seem to remember, but the 30s depression … wasn’t just about a market crash," he explained, "there were some people who were prepared to make money from that crash, and I think anybody can do that. … It’s an opportunity."

He also predicted that millions of people will lose all of their savings within the next twelve months. His advice? BE PREPARED.

It's nice to know that somebody else besides Glenn Beck is telling it like it is that nobody else will seem to say or cover. In fact, there's a movement that's going on right now trying to discredit this independent trader who decided to be open and honest about what's really going on in the world.

It's crazy to think about and some don't want to think about it. But we need to. We need to be aware of what's going on in the world and prepare accordingly. No longer can we sit idly by because sooner or later the cancer will take over.

If you follow my blog or have read any of my posts there's no surprise that I'm a Glenn Beck fan. He is one of the only political commentators that I truly connect with because he tells it like it is. He doesn't favor any political party and bashes on all if they don't stand for honor.

10-Year Anniversary 9/11/01

I can't believe that it's been ten years since that dreadful day! I remember it like it was yesterday. I was awaiting for class to begin at BYU-Idaho when my teacher comes in and begins to unfold the events of the morning. I was in shock and disbelief - AMERICA WAS UNDER ATTACK!? -

I immediately tried to log on to CNN.com and other news websites to get more information and to see pictures, but they were all bogged down with too much traffic and their servers crashed. Not long after, school was cancelled for the rest of the day, and I immediately went to my apartment and was glued to the tv for the rest of the day!

One of the best renditions I've heard...
I browsed the tv a lot today trying to find programs with tributes and footage of that day. Found programs, but the actual footage was scarce...why is that? I've heard that it almost takes an act of God to get permission to air the actual footage - so I went to YouTube.com and found some of the best/scary footage I've seen...

Speaking of God, I think that this was a wake up call for our country. We, as a people of the most blessed country on this Earth was forgetting God. We were pushing Him out of our lives, schools, government, etc. The reason our country was founded was because of God and people under persecution seeking religious freedom.

Ten years ago, the Prophet/President of my church addressed what happened on this day and what we must do as a people...

Wise words from a wise man. I am so thankful for all the people that help to make our nation safe and secure from policeman, fire fighters, all branches of the military, border patrol, coastguard, etc. - may God bless you in your efforts and may God bless us as we turn to Him and serve him with all our heart, might, mind, and strength.

New Tone, but Same Hot Air

I reluctantly tuned in this evening to watch President Obama address a joint session of Congress. The President presented and enthusiastically promoted a new piece of legislation called "American Jobs Acts." A lot of the things that were said sounded good on the surface level, but couldn't help but wonder what's laying below down deep.

Just like the health care bill, we may not have time to get on our snorkeling gear to explore the reef below. Obama pressed umpteen times that we needed to pass this bill as fast as we can and is planning on giving us more detail on specifics in a couple of weeks. Is it like Nancy Pelosi said, "...we've got to pass the bill to see what's in it..." uh, no. THIS SHOULD BE A RED FLAG TO EVERYONE! Don't pass the bill until it has been given enough time for everyone to read it and openly debate it.

It's just another multi-billion dollar program that the President is planning to spend with our money.

I think President is in campaign mode. He is a very smart man. He's thinking re-election, and with his speech painted Republicans into a corner. If Republicans reject Obama’s jobs agenda, the president will be able to tell voters that he’ll never stop fighting for jobs and prosperity -- and that Republicans will never stop defending tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires.

Tax the rich. Tax the rich. How about the 42% of Americans who aren't currently paying taxes, start paying taxes! 42%!!!

Obama = Hypocrite

HYPOCRITE: A person who professes beliefs and opinions that he or she does not hold in order to conceal his or her feelings or motives. Hypocrisy is thus a kind of lie.

The Presidnt must really think the American people are just a bunch of idiots who don't understand basic economics. If you spend more than you make you go into debt. If you spend less than you make you have a surplus. Obama's actions are so contrary from what he says it is ludicrious to think he actually believes it himself.

In his first two years in office, President Obama has racked up over $2 trillion in debt making our national debt over $14 trillion! Last week when the Democrats and Republican agreed on $39 billion in spending cuts is just a fraction of the overall budget. In fact, our nation borrowed over $50 billion in the time to negotiate the cuts! If that isn't enough to boggle your mind President Obama plans to borrow another trillion dollars to get us through the rest of the government's current fiscal year!

With that said, President Obama goes on television tonight and says this:

"We have to live within our means, we have to reduce our deficit, and we have to get back on the path that will allow us to pay down our debt."

H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E. Do as I say, not as I do right? Is anyone really taking him seriously? What a joke.

Government Shutdown 2011

President Obama hasn't had a budget passed since 2009. If you read my last post you would have learned that keeping and staying on a balanced budget is a common sense principle of living within your means, not overspending, and getting out of debt. Something our lawmakers seem to think is not important. Now the country is faced with a pending government shutdown if an agreement cannot be made by midnight tonight.

What does this mean? Well, I read an article on examiner.com saying that 800,000 federal non-essential federal employees won't get paid. My first thought was non-essential employees? If they are non-essential, why do we even have them in the first place?

That sounds like a good spot to start making cuts in the budget and the scope and size of our government.

Getting Out of Debt - My Personal Experience

I've had a credit card since I was seventeen years old. I loved the idea of buying something now and paying for it later. By the time I was approaching twenty years old I had three or four credit cards and the interest on them was ridiculous, and it was getting difficult for me to even make the minimum payments. Something needed to change. I either needed to make more money to suit my lifestyle or I needed to change my lifestyle and stop using my credit cards and cut the amount I was spending.

I had a pretty good job managing a local restaurant, but wasn't really in a position to increase my income...the thrift store to eBay sales just wasn't cutting it. My lifestyle needed to change. I stopped using my credit cards and paid them off, but didn't really change my lifestyle. A few years later I was back in over my head in credit card debt. Then I found Dave Ramsey. He gave me a Total Money Makeover and common sense principles to get out of debt. It has changed my lifestyle.

I didn't just stop using my credit cards this time, I cancelled them.
I created a budget and assigned each potential dollar earned a name. In other words, a balanced budget.
I now deal in cash only. Saved up a baby emergency fund and have started paying off debts smallest to largest. I am still in this step.

Even though I'm not out of debt yet, I wanted to point out that I made drastic changes by cutting things out of my life that were needless, only spent what I made or less than I made (i.e. living within my means), and kept and stayed on a budget. These are some of the common sense principles I'm doing in my life to get out of debt.

Now let's talk about these ding dongs in Congress running our country, whom also control out tax dollars and how it's spent. You would think they use some of these same common sense principles starting with balancing the budget. But when the housing bubble burst and the recession took hold we were told that we had to spend money to make money (Joe Biden) and this administration has continued to spend more money than the tax revenues are brining in...in the trillions of dollars. The debt ceiling (the amount of money our government can borrow) keeps getting raised and we're borrowing more and more money where sooner or later we aren't even going to be able to afford the interest payments on these loans.

Drastic changes need to be made. First and foremost, we need a balanced budget ammendment in our Constitution. This will allow we only spend the amount of the projected income the government receives through tax revenue. Second, needless government programs need to be eliminated or drastically cut. Government employees salay should be capped with the average American household. They also need to contribute more to their health care plans and savings accounts/pensions. Third, like we did in the 20's we need to cut spending drastically in upwards of 50% spending cuts in the budget.

Doing something like this will hurt, but needs to be done. We need to get our country back on track.

Obama Secretly Destroying the Republic

In a previous post I talked about Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus. They lived during the Roman Empire and were brothers and part of the Sempronii. As civil leaders they helped destroy the Roman Republic while allegedly attempting to better the country. I found another piece of evidence that suggested our President, Barack Obama is doing the same thing. This is my opinion and connecting the dots.

"President Obama, reversing a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, unveiled a plan Wednesday [03-30-2011] to allow oil drilling off the Eastern seaboard and potentially the western coast of Florida." [S] On the outside this sounds pretty good and something that we need to do to stop our dependence on foreign oil. But what aren't they telling you?

These new areas have never been explored before and may not even contain oil.
Reversing the bad in one step. The next step would granting the leases and permits to start oil exploration in these areas.
In order to get these permits almost takes an act of God thanks to new regulation (Cass Sunstein) with last year's Gulf oil disaster.
In reality, it could take years, even decades before we see any real benefit from lifting this ban.

Don't get me wrong, I am totally for new exploration. It is something I believe this country needs to do in the long-term to stop that dependence on foreign oil. We also need to open up drilling on our lands as well, just not in the oceans.

But what about the Gulf of Mexico? The moratorium is still in place. Meaning that the oil rigs that were drilling there aren't and haven't been for months and won't for who knows how long! How about we reopen the Gulf of Mexico and start extracting the oil where we already know where it is! At the same time opening up new areas of exploration. But apparently it's too dangereous.

And then there's Brazil. President Obama recently visited Brazil and granted the permits and licenses for a Brazilian oil company to drill in the Gulf of Mexico! What!? An article on Investor.com writes, "Obama wants to develop Brazilian offshore oil to help the Brazilian economy create jobs for Brazilian workers while Americans are left unemployed in the face of skyrocketing energy prices by an administration that despises fossil fuels as a threat to the environment and wants to increase our dependency on foreign oil." In addition to these permits, our government is also loaning them $2 billion of our tax dollars to help with their effort! President Obama explains: "We want to help you with the technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely. And when you're ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers." [S] So he's giving them money and permits to get the oil that we will then buy from them. Hmmmm, uh, how about we use that $2 billion for our U.S. companines, put people back to work, drill for the oil ourselves, and then we won't have to buy it! It just doesn't add up.

So he's doing stuff that on the outside looks like he's doing it to better the country, but it's actually helping to destroy our own economy and the Republic. I believe this is Obama's true intentions and has been wanting it for a very long time...even before he was President.

Obama to SEIU: Your Agenda Has Been My Agenda

If you haven't read my last post, Economic Terrorism, please do so now. It talks about Steven Learner - who is "considered one of the smartest organizers, if not the smartest organizer, working in the labor movement"[S] and supposed former SEIU member/leader. While employed with SEIU he spent millions of SEIU's dollars to bring about the plan as described in my previous post.

Now watch the clip below where Obama passionately tells SEIU members that "your agenda has been my agenda..."

Is it too far of a stretch to think that the White House knows about Steven Learner and his plans? He, Learner, has visited the White House at least four times. It is little stuff like this that connects the dots for me that make me believe that Obama is like the Sempronii Brothers who - as civil leaders - helped destroy the Roman Republic [and now America's Republic?] while allegedly attempting to better the country.

By the way, SEIU spent over $60 million dollars to help get Barack Obama elected as President of the United States. Don't you think they are expecting a return on their investment? Read about that here.

I saw and read an interesting news article on The Blaze titled "Between Soccer Games in Rio, Obama Urges Arab Countries to Follow Brazil's Democratic Lead" and my first thought was Brazil's Democratic Lead? Wow! It wasn't too long ago when the nations and countries of the world were looking to America's lead.

That's another thing that bugs me...our country is not a Democracy, it's a Republic! Don't know the difference? Look it up or read the book The 5,000 Year Leap.

A couple of paragraphs in the news article got my attention and gave me a puzzled look, and I think my head exploded. I quote:

"...Brazil – a country that shows that a dictatorship can become a thriving democracy. Brazil – a country that shows democracy delivers both freedom and opportunity to its people. Brazil – a country that shows how a call for change that starts in the streets can transform a city, a country, and the world.”

"Brazil was ruled by a military dictatorship from 1964-85, a regime that was eased from power not by a sharp, violent revolution, but through a long, massive popular movement of peaceful protest and strikes led in large part by labor unions and dissident political groups. New President Dilma Rousseff, the nation’s first female leader, who took power in January, was a key member of a Marxist militant group that battled against the dictatorship."

Stop. Go back and read those two paragraphs again. Obama is praising Brazil and how change started in the streets and can transform. The leader in power in Brazil was a key member of a Marxist militant group that battled against the dictatorship isn't much better than before. Probably worse. Coo-coo.

The Sempronii

I'm reading this fantastic book titled Celebrate Liberty! that's full of famous patriotic speeches and sermons that was compiled with historical annotations by David Barton and came across a reference to the "Sempronii."

The reference comes from an Oration given on July 4, 1796 in Boston by John Lathrop Junior. One of the best lines in his Oration inspired me and have caused me to ponder on the power of one individual. It reads,

"To preserve - to perpetuate - the independence of our country is the duty not only of our civil rulers but of every individual. Much depends, frequently, upon the exertions and designs of a single member of society. The fate of empires has been decided by an aspiring demagogue or an ambitious hero!"

David Barton's annotation of an 1830s definition of a demagogue would like a people half educated; enough to read what is said, but not enough to know whether it's true or not. That way, I suppose, you can manipulate the masses and they wouldn't be the wiser.

The next paragraph in the Oration is really what caught my interest and thought it relevant today...

"Intrigue [secret scheming] and faction [seeking special interests rather than the common good] are the instruments which designing and artful men employ to produce the destruction of good government and the consequent annihilation of order and of law. When those infernal agents [evil influences] are at work, he who bellows loudest for liberty intends to be the tyrant-in-chief. Again, David Barton's annotation about the Sempronii were two Roman brothers (Tiberius & Gaius Gracchus) who - as civil leaders - helped destroy the Roman Republic while allegedly attempting to better the country.

I immediately thought of our current President Barack Obama and the people he surrounds himself with. If you know anything about President Obama (i.e. childhood, early education, college, background, etc.) you would probably think the same thing. I wholeheartedly think that Obama's intentions for this country are not good. He's like the Sempronii brothers destroying the America Republic with policy and regulation while "allededly attempting to better the country." Obviously there's no way to prove this theory, but getting to know President Obama you can get a pretty good idea.

I just thought it was interesting that something that was said in 1796 was so relevant today.

Stickin' to 'em Guns

In a bold move "Republican state senators in Wisconsin have successfully pushed through a provision stripping public employees of their collective bargaining rights by separating it from Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget bill." The Blaze By separating it from the budget bill, it didn't require any Democrats to be present as did with the budget bill. Genious, pure genious! It's almost as genious as my idea. One of the Republicans should've pulled an Arlen Specter and switch parties so the budget bill could be voted on.

I am very impressed with Gov. Walker and not backing down and sticking to his guns! I started to lose respect for him earlier today because I heard on the radio that there was some talk of him giving in to some concessions with the Unions, but it may have all been a ploy to pass the stripping of the collective bargaining rights in a separate bill.

Of course the Senate Democrats are up in arms about it and came out with this statement: "In thirty minutes, 18 State Senators undid fifty years of civil rights in Wisconsin. Their disrespect for the people of Wisconsin and their rights is an outrage that will never be forgotten. Tonight, 18 Senate Republicans conspired to take government away from the people. Tomorrow we will join the people of Wisconsin in taking back their government." The Blaze

Keep in mind it's the Democrats fault it came to this in the first place! If they didn't run away like a dog with its tail between its leg at least they could've said they tried and will continue to try to protect their precious union buddies. Also, I think the Dems would've done the exact same thing, if not something more sneaky, if the roles were reversed.

Stripping of bargaining rights of unions is starting to spread as well. Idaho lawmakers just recently approved a bill restricting the teachers union. The Blaze

The Beginning of Slavery

After submitting my last post about the Constitution declaring a slave as three-fifths of a person it got me thinking of how it all started? We know how it ended, but no one really talks about how it all began...at least I couldn't remember. I decided to do some research and to find out.

At first I did a Google search for "history of slaves in america" and found a lot of the results brought back were how Africans were brought over in ships and sold as slaves, but there had to be something before that right? I dug deeper. What led to full blown out slavery was something called indentured servitude.

Indentured servitude was a common practice throughout the globe in which a land owner hired servants to work their land. The land owners paid for their passage on ship and were provided room and board. The servitude usually lasted between 2-7 years and were given the opportunity to work hard, pay off their debts, and become land owners themselves. Oh, I also found that servitude wasn't based on color, rather creed and whether or not you were a Christian. Servants were both black and white.

I also found the story of one individual known as Antonio, a Negro as was entered on a manifest. He was an indentured servant and worked really hard and in four years was able to pay off his debts and became a land owner himself with a 50 acre plot of land with supplies and equipment called "freedom dues." Antonio changed his name to Anthony Johnson and hired five indentured servants himself increasing his land to 250 acres. As part of the contract each servant increased the land ownership by 50 acres.

One of Anthony's servants was named John Casor (also a Negro) in which he contested the length of his servitude and believed that his employer unfairly extended the length of servitude. The case went to court and ruled in favor of Mr. Johnson and John Casor's length of servitude was extended for life! Anthony Johnson, a black guy, was essential the first slave owner of another black guy! Because of this, is one of the main reasons why reparations for blacks and slavery is difficult, if at all, to enforce or pass.

At around the same time this was happening with Anthony Johnson another case of a land owner had three runaway indentured servants. One was black, two were white. They servants were captured and taken to court and the two white servants had an extension on their servitude of four years while the black servant's was extended for life, which started slavery being based on color rather than creed. By the way this was early 16th century (1600-1630's) and slavery didn't become law until 1665 so it evolved gradually over time that started out as hired labor to enslaved labor for life.

Interesting eh? This is obviously isn't something taught in the text books so one should question, why? I'll leave that for another post coming soon!

I was on my lunch break the other day at work working on my netbook computer of which I have a picture of three of the Founding Fathers: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Samuel Adams. This striked up a conversation between me and a couple of my co-workers. One of them said the Founding Fathers were all racists. After investigating further they thought they were racists because they owned slaves and only counted negros as three-fifths of a person in the Constitution.

This lit a fire underneath me because I knew that these individuals had no clue what was actually meant when the Founding Fathers put this into the Constitution. I felt the need to educate my co-workers. They thought that the 3/5 statement was in the Constitution because the Founding Fathers wanted to continue slavery when in actuality it was the exact opposite.

"The Three-Fifths compromise was a compromise between the Southern and Northern states reached during the Philadelphia Convention of 1787 in which three-fifths of the population of slaves would be counted for enumeration purposes regarding both the distribution of taxes and the appointment of the members of the United States House of Representatives. It was proposed by delegates James Wilson and Roger Sherman.

"Delegates opposed to slavery generally wished to count only free inhabitants of each state. Delegates supportive of slavery, on the other hand, generally wanted to count slaves in their actual numbers. Since slaves could not vote, slaveholders would thus have the benefit of increased representation in the House and the Electoral College [which would be more difficult to abolish slavery]. The final compromise of counting "all other persons" as only three-fifths of their actual number reduced the power of the slave states relative to the original southern proposals, but increased it over the northern position." - Wikipedia

The actual text in the Constitution found in Article 1, Section 2, Paragraph 3 says: "Representative and direct Taxes shall be appointed among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."

Wikipedia continues: "Following the Civil War and the abolition of slavery by the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (1865), the three-fifths clause was rendered moot."

Once I explained this to these individuals, I saw their mind enlightened and were surprised, and they didn't have anything further to say. It irks me to no end when someone just spits out something like that they have no understanding of...just something they heard or thought without doing their homework.

The Adjustment Bureau

It's just been over three months since my last post and it took me going to a movie called The Adjustment Bureau to inspire me to write a new post. Let me explain why.

Here is the synopsis of the movie according to http://www.imdb.com/: "Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulate us? Matt Damon stars in the thriller The Adjustment Bureau as a man who glimpses the future Fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he's ever loved across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York. This "bureau" basically nudges individuals on a path that has already been written by the Chairman. If these nudges don't work sometimes it turns into shoves. If shoves don't work then the bureau makes you do it without really giving you a choice.

Right off the bat, this movie reminded me of Cass Sunstein, Obama's Regulatory Czar, and his book Nudge. In it he talks about how through regulation you can manipulate people in making decisions. It gives them the illision of free will and making their own choices, but someone else is actually pulling the strings and guiding them on a path that maybe, just maybe they wouldn't normally take.

For example, if Cass wanted to ban guns...there would be no way Congress would ever pass a law that goes against our Constitutional right, but he could put in place new regualation that it would make it more difficult to be a gun owner like increasing license fees, more paperwork, etc. So Obama's the Chairman and Sunstein is head of the Adjustment Bureau manipulating our choices and what they think is right. The movie, unlike the Obama administration does have a happy ending.

The Real Story of Thanksgiving

"The story of the Pilgrims begins in the early part of the seventeenth century (that's the 1600s for those of you in Rio Linda, California). The Church of England under King James I was persecuting anyone and everyone who did not recognize its absolute civil and spiritual authority. Those who challenged ecclesiastical authority and those who believed strongly in freedom of worship were hunted down, imprisoned, and sometimes executed for their beliefs. A group of separatists first fled to Holland and established a community.

"After eleven years, about forty of them agreed to make a perilous journey to the New World, where they would certainly face hardships, but could live and worship God according to the dictates of their own consciences. On August 1, 1620, the Mayflower set sail. It carried a total of 102 passengers, including forty Pilgrims led by William Bradford. On the journey, Bradford set up an agreement, a contract, that established just and equal laws for all members of the new community, irrespective of their religious beliefs. Where did the revolutionary ideas expressed in the Mayflower Compact come from? From the Bible. The Pilgrims were a people completely steeped in the lessons of the Old and New Testaments. They looked to the ancient Israelites for their example.

"And, because of the biblical precedents set forth in Scripture, they never doubted that their experiment would work. But this was no pleasure cruise, friends. The journey to the New World was a long and arduous one. And when the Pilgrims landed in New England in November, they found, according to Bradford's detailed journal, a cold, barren, desolate wilderness. There were no friends to greet them, he wrote. There were no houses to shelter them. There were no inns where they could refresh themselves. And the sacrifice they had made for freedom was just beginning. During the first winter, half the Pilgrims – including Bradford's own wife – died of either starvation, sickness or exposure. When spring finally came, Indians taught the settlers how to plant corn, fish for cod and skin beavers for coats.

"Life improved for the Pilgrims, but they did not yet prosper! This is important to understand because this is where modern American history lessons often end. Thanksgiving is actually explained in some textbooks as a holiday for which the Pilgrims gave thanks to the Indians for saving their lives, rather than as a devout expression of gratitude grounded in the tradition of both the Old and New Testaments. Here is the part that has been omitted: The original contract the Pilgrims had entered into with their merchant-sponsors in London called for everything they produced to go into a common store, and each member of the community was entitled to one common share. All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belong to the community as well. They were going to distribute it equally. "Nobody owned anything. They just had a share in it. It was a commune, folks. It was the forerunner to the communes we saw in the '60s and '70s out in California – and it was complete with organic vegetables, by the way. He decided to take bold action. Bradford assigned a plot of land to each family to work and manage, thus turning loose the power of the marketplace. That's right. Long before Karl Marx was even born, the Pilgrims had discovered and experimented with what could only be described as socialism. And what happened? It didn't work!

"It never has worked! What Bradford and his community found was that the most creative and industrious people had no incentive to work any harder than anyone else, unless they could utilize the power of personal motivation! But while most of the rest of the world has been experimenting with socialism for well over a hundred years – trying to refine it, perfect it, and re-invent it – the Pilgrims decided early on to scrap it permanently. What Bradford wrote about this social experiment should be in every schoolchild's history lesson. If it were, we might prevent much needless suffering in the future. 'The experience that we had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years...that by taking away property, and bringing community into a common wealth, would make them happy and flourishing – as if they were wiser than God,' Bradford wrote.

"'For this community [so far as it was] was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For young men that were most able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children without any recompense ... that was thought injustice.' Why should you work for other people when you can't work for yourself? What's the point? Do you hear what he was saying, ladies and gentlemen? The Pilgrims found that people could not be expected to do their best work without incentive. So what did Bradford's community try next? They unharnessed the power of good old free enterprise by invoking the undergirding capitalistic principle of private property.

"Every family was assigned its own plot of land to work and permitted to market its own crops and products. And what was the result? 'This had very good success,' wrote Bradford, 'for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been.' Bradford doesn't sound like much of a Clintonite" I wrote then "does he? Is it possible that supply-side economics could have existed before the 1980s? Yes. Read the story of Joseph and Pharaoh in Genesis 41. Following Joseph's suggestion (Gen 41:34), Pharaoh reduced the tax on Egyptians to 20% during the 'seven years of plenty' and the 'Earth brought forth in heaps.' (Gen. 41:47) In no time, the Pilgrims found they had more food than they could eat themselves.

"Now, this is where it gets really good, folks, if you're laboring under the misconception that I was, as I was taught in school. So they set up trading posts and exchanged goods with the Indians. The profits allowed them to pay off their debts to the merchants in London. And the success and prosperity of the Plymouth settlement attracted more Europeans and began what came to be known as the 'Great Puritan Migration.'" But this story stops when the Indians taught the newly arrived suffering in socialism Pilgrims how to plant corn and fish for cod. That's where the story stops, and the story basically doesn't even begin there. The real story of Thanksgiving is William Bradford giving thanks to God for the guidance and the inspiration to set up a thriving colony. The bounty was shared with the Indians. They did sit down and they had dinner, and I think they had a turkey, but it was not the Indians who saved the day. It was capitalism and Scripture which saved the day."

Deficit Commission Proposal

What I think was a move to save face with the American people and to look like he was actually doing something or concerned with the National Debt, President Obama organized a bipartisan deficit commission to come up with ways of reducing this debt.

A couple of the proposals from the commission:

Reduce the annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security and curbing growth in Medicare
Eliminated popular tax breaks like the Mortgage or Child Tax Credit

Before looking more into these proposals let’s go back in time and look at some things that Barack Obama has said and what he has done in the first two years of his Presidency.

From January 20, 2001 to January 20, 2009 the debt held by the public grew $3 trillion under Mr. Bush. By comparison, from the day Mr. Obama took office the debt held by the public will grow by $3.3 trillion. In 20 months, Mr. Obama will add as much debt as Mr. Bush ran up in eight years! WSJ

By eliminated popular tax breaks like the Mortgage Tax Credit would mean the single largest tax increase on every home owner across the nation that has a mortgage! This would not go over well with the American people and would break Obama's no tax increase promise, which has already been broken with ObamaCare.

I have a few proposals of myself on how to reduce the deficit, that I think are common sense and am in awe that these ideas aren't on the table that I can see.

First and foremost, government spending has to stop or drastically reduced. To think we can spend our way out of debt or out of a recession is ludicrous and makes NO sense on so many levels that it makes you wonder about the compentency level of this administration and its advisors.
Second, and almost just as important as the first, is that our government should be required to be on a balanced budget. They would only be allowed to spend on the estimated revenue it receives in any given year.
Third, Timothy Geitner and Ben Bernake need to be fired and appoint Dave Ramsey to take either place and Dave's choice of team members to run the Treasury and Federal Reserve. Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover needs to be applied to the government - common sense principles of getting out of debt! I would be willing to bet everything I own that Dave Ramsey could do more to reduce the deficit in four years than all the administrations combined in the last 200 hundred years!
Fourth, entitlement programs need to be drastically reformed, reduced, or eliminated.
Last, but not least, fifth, pork spending and earmarks need to be eliminated and leave it to the states.

It wouldn't hurt to eliminate the progressive income tax while we're at it and have a flat tax for everyone across the nation so no matter how much you make you pay the same percentage in tax. That alone would incentivise business owners to invest and expand their businesses creating more jobs thus increasing tax revenue for the government.

Our country is headed down a path that is literally unsustainable. Drastic changes need to happen and happen soon or we may be facing what Greece and Europe is facing.

Being Prepared

All of my life I have been taught to be prepared both spiritually and temporally. I have always worked on my spirituality trying to live my Christian values and trying to be a better person. Temporally has always been on the back burner until recently.

I have been counseled all my life that I should have one-year of food storage available in cases of emergency. Not only food, but also getting my house in order, being out of debt, and have a reserve of cash as well. I have always known that I should work on it, but like I said have put it on the back burner.

Recently though, the past 1-2 years I have felt a sense of urgency of getting these temporal affairs in order. It is constantly on mind my mind every day and can't shake it off. Slowly, I have been stocking up on food and water and paying down our debt. My wife and I have made great progress and wish we could do more faster.

I don't know what the future holds or what emergencies will come where if I'm not prepared I'd be up a creek without a paddle, but I am listening to the still small voice that's giving me this sense of urgency and doing what I can to be prepared. Given the current state of our nation and economy I figure it's not a bad idea and would encourage any to do the same.

Lack of Communication or the Policies?

Election Day on November 2, 2010 made history when Republicans took over the House of Representatives in a landside not seen in over 70 years! In addition to this, Senate Republicans picked up several seats further reducing the Democratic super majority they have held the past couple of years. Most governor races throughout the nation also turned red.

You would think that this would send a message to President Obama that the American people are not happy with the direction the country has taken with his progressive agenda and policies. When asked about it during an interview on 60-Minutes yesterday they President responded by saying he didn't think it was his policies, but a lack of communication, deliverance, and explanation of those policies to the American people.

"...leadership isn’t just legislation. That it’s a matter of persuading people. And giving them confidence and bringing them together. And setting a tone. Making an argument that people can understand. I think that we haven’t always been successful at that. And I take personal responsibility for that. And it’s something that I’ve got to examine carefully...as I go forward.”

In other words, he thinks that we, the American people, are too stupid to understand. To me, this shows me just how out of touch our President and his administration is with the American people. We fully understand Mr. President! We understand that you have increased the size and scope of the government at levels not seen since Woodrow Wilson. We understand that you are trying to "fundamentally transform" our country. We understand.

Mr. President, it seems like you are the one that doesn't understand. We don't want the government running the auto industry, our banks, Wallstreet, and most importantly our health care! We don't want the government regulating every aspect of our lives. We don't want the government spending trillions of dollars and debting this country that will enslave us for generations. We want limited government and policies that will promote economic growth like less taxes and less government instrusion!

Are you understanding us? No. You will continue down your progressive path and agenda. That's fine. You will be a one-term President. We will get a President in the White House that doesn't want to bankrupt our country. We will take back the House and Senate and repeal or defund your policies. If you don't think this Election Day on November 2nd was a direct message that we don't like what you're doing, in two years you will.

Economics 101: Supply & Demand

If there is not enough apples to meet the demand of the consumer the price or value of the apple goes up. If the supply of apples are greater than the demand the price or value goes down. Simple basic economics right? Same thing applies to the American dollar. If the supply of the dollar (more available in the system) the price or value goes down.

On November 3, 2010 the Federal Reserve headed up by Ben Bernanke announced that it will buy $600 billion of our own treasury bonds to "stimulate" the economy. Basically what this means is that the Fed in printing $600 billion to buy our own (America's) debt. This influx of available cash will cause the value of the dollar to go down. When this happens my hard earned money buys less than what it did before because of inflation...especially in commodities...expect prices to soar!

No, this isn't about illegal immigrants. In the past I've talked about entitlement programs and how I think they hurt people more than help. I found this great quote by Benjamin Franklin:

"I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer."

I don't see how anyone can read this and not have it make sense. It certainly doesn't make sense to Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives...

So the more people who are on food stamps and getting unemployment insurance benefits gets the biggest bang for the buck? This is insane! Nancy should be fired for incompetence! She just may in a few weeks when millions of Americans will go to the polls for mid-term election. FIRE NANCY PELOSI!!! GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

Feeling the Effects of Health Care Reform

McDonalds recently came out and said that it would be dropping health care coverage for 30,000 of it's employees because of the health care reform (aka ObamaCare) legislation that was passed a few months ago. Not long after that announcement the federal government granted a "waiver" for the company not requiring the implementation of key provisions in the legislation for one year. Many other big companies and unions have also received a waiver.

I work for a big corporation. The name of this corporation I'll call "Bobble." I received an email from my company announcing that open enrollment for health care insurance is coming up next month and to give us information regarding upcoming changes. The following is an excerpt of the email:

"While Health Care Reform takes effect gradually over the next several years, Bobble Corporation will continue to monitor what it means for our long-term strategy. We'll keep you informed about anything that will affect you or your family. For 2011, two changes result directly from Health Care Reform. Dependents may now be covered under the medical plan up to age 26, regardless of student or marital status, as long as they don't have access to coverage through their employer. Also, over-the-counter drugs without a prescription (except for insulin), will no longer be reimbursed through your pre-tax Health Care Spending Account.

"Employee medical plan contributions will increase for 2011. This increase reflects both rising medical costs and the costs of covering more eligible dependents."

I was expecting an increase in premium due to rising health care costs like every year, but also, my cost is being increased due to the insurance company having to cover more people. The insurance company is in business to make money. If something happens to that company that is going to cost them more money, they have to raise their rates to make it worth while to remain in business and make a profit. In turn, Bobble Corporation is also in the business to make money and when their costs go up they pass it along to their employees and maybe even their customers in higher prices for their product/service. So this health care reform is directly effecting me, my family, and my take home pay each month.

What do you think is going to happen when insurance companies are required to cover pre-existing conditions? Companies will be faced with lowering coverage for certain benefits, raising rates, or not evening providing health care insurance because it will be too expensive. Rates will skyrocket!!! If companies stop providing this service, health insurance companies will lose money and eventually not be able to make a profit and have a reason to be in business. When companies drop their insurance where will the employees go? Ahhh, the federal goverment. This is what progressives, liberals, and the current Obama administration have wanted for a very, very, long time. The proof is in the pudding...

Say hello to the beginning of the end of health care insurance as we know it. This legislation NEEDS to be REPEALED and REPLACED with something that will actually work in bringing down health care costs, which will lower costs for Americans! GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

Are Prophets of God on the Earth Today?

As I read the Bible and other sacred scriptures I cannot help but think about the role of prophets throughout all of history. From the time of Adam and Eve, God has called special witnesses of His son, Jesus Christ, to proclaim his gospel plan and His will to us. In the book of Amos, chapter 3, verse 7 it reads:

"Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."

Prophets is plural for a reason...meaning more than one. When God declares His word and will it doesn't just come from one person. In the second book of Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 1 it reads:

"...In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established."

If there was only one person declaring the will of God it would be easy to not hear it, but when multiple people are declaring it it's not so easy.

Think about it for a minute...throughout all of history God has called prophets like Noah and Moses...do you really think that God would leave us stranded today without somebody called of God to declare his will to the inhabitants of men? It doesn't seem likely. No loving God would leave his children without guidance.

I believe and know that our Heavenly Father continues to call special witnesses to testify of Him, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. The prophets and apostles are alive and living today. As such, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a proclamation called "The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles" in which they do as they were called and testify that He lives!

In 1995, the First Presidency of the LDS Church released "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" where they "solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children."

Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, has recently come under fire from gay rights activist groups within the past week for his talk/speech he gave during the Semi-Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There have been protests and petitions for Elder Packer to rescind his "hateful" and "anti-gay" remarks. Please read his remarks before reading more.

All done? Let me just say this, marriage between one man and one woman is one of the core doctrines and beliefs of the LDS church, and there is absolutely no way that will ever be rescinded in any shape or form. Does that make the Church and its members hateful and full of bigots. No. They are expressing what they believe to be right just as others can do the same. Love the person, hate the sin. Active members of the Church make a covenant to keep the Law of Chastity where the sacred procreative powers should only be used in the bonds of matrimony between a man and a woman. Anything outside of this is considered immoral and unatural and considered a sin against the commandments of God.

The LDS church is led by a prophet and a quorum of apostles. In answer to the title of this blog, Yes. I know for myself through the Holy Ghost that they are called of God and their words are the word and will of God.

Let me end with some remarks my brother left throughout a lengthy discussion to one of his Facebook friends who is actively gay and was raised a Mormon:

" For those in the gay and lesbian community: You owe your life to a man and a woman who chose to come together and create a child--you! If you desire to have a family, you have to adopt a child who was a result of a man and woman coming together to procreate.

A man and man together cannot create a child. Nieither can women. Legislation would create a token relationship between the couple, but you would never have the ability to create a family, which is what marriage is all about.

The ultimate harm and threat of homosexuality is the total disegration of the family unit which is the building block of any society. When the family unit is gone, so will be the society you live in.

Even though our beliefs differ on this subject, I have not been offended. I still consider you a friend and I have appreciated the opportunity to voice my personal opinion. I have said my peace, now I will be done."

Can Abortion Be Kindness?

I am pro-life. I believe that life begins at conception and am totally and completely against abortion. I also believe that no matter what infirmities we have in this life are given for a reason. There are people and groups out there that we should "get rid" of anyone who has infirmities and handicaps. Hitler comes to mind wanting to create the perfect race by taking out all the bad genetics. So you can imagine that I was shocked when I saw/heard about the following video of a UK pundit said she'd have no problem killing children if they are suffering.

The following video clip is not for the faint of heart or children. The video is an ad produced by a guy in the United Kingdom. The goal of the ad is to motivate people to cut carbon emissions by 10% thus helping to save the planet from global warming. I for one think global warming is a bunch of crap and a way for progressives and special interest groups to redistribute the wealth. Decide for yourself if this video "motivates" you to cut your carbon emissions by 10%.

I was/am horrified and disgusted when I saw this ad. The message I got was help with global warming or we kill you. Welcome to the mind of global warming fanatic freaks!

Government Entitlement Programs

On September 2, 2010 I posted a blog about how 1 in 6 Americans receive some sort of government aid and wanted to expand a little more on how these type of programs can be destructive to our nation and the individual/family who is receiving that aid. But first let me define the word "ENTITLEMENT/ENTITLED"

ENTITLEMENT

(a)the state or condition of being entitled (b)a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group
belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges

The following is a story about Bob in relation to an entitlement program called Medicaid (state/federal health insurance for the poor):

Bob's family NEEDS health insurance because they have two children that have special needs that require a lot of medical assistance and other programs. Bob is a full-time student and has a part-time job. His wife stays at home with the kids. Because Bob's income is very low he and his family has been on Medicaid for the last 5-7 years until recently.

I got a call from Bob the other day because he remembered that I sold supplemental insurance. He explained to me that he and his family was kicked off Medicad because his income was $15 too much per month. He is now shopping around for health insurance for him and his family. Not only were they kicked off Medicad, their Food Stamps may be in jeopardy as well...another entitlement program.

Our telephone conversation went something like this:

Bob: Betsy and I lost our Medicaid.

Me: Why?

Bob: I made $15 a month too much.

Me: That's frustrating.

Bob: I know! Now I understand why people don't work, if you work you lose benefits. There is no incentive for working.

Me: I'm sure something will work out.

Bob: I'm sure it will too. I'm figuring out the options, but it's frustrating. I can't afford to pay the $300 of student insurance for my family just because I made $15 too much. We could lose food stamps too. Why work and try and provide for your family when it is going to be used against you?

That! my friends is why government assistance programs CAN BE destructive to our nation and family. Bob and Betsy are...what's the word...assimulated?...into the system and have gotten used to the entitlement and now have no incentive to work because in his words, "why work and try and provide for your family when it is going to be used against you?"

It is destructive to the family because they have no motivation to work more and better their condition because they will lose benefits and be more costly causing them to always be dependent on the government. It is destructive to the nation because more and more people are receiving government aid...with more people in the system the more it costs the government. The more it costs the government the more the actual working class will need to pay (i.e. higher taxes) to keep the entitlement afloat. It is mathmatically unstainable and could eventually collapse the system.

You know what I wanted to tell Bob? I wanted to tell him to take some personal responsibility for your self and get a better job! Where's your pride? Bob has no problem receiving "free" assistance and will milk it as long as he can. In fact, I predict that Bob will start working less so he can again qualify for Medicaid because the other option costs too much.

If it were me, and it was me there for a few months when I got laid off and inbetween jobs, I'd be totally embarrased to receive any type of welfare/assistance. It made me so uncomfortable that I did everything I could to get another job so I wouldn't have to be helped. I felt that it was wrong because I was raised to believe that nothing is free and you can't get something for nothing.

It's a broken system. Don't get me wrong, I believe that these entitlement programs are important and need to be in place for people who really need it. But if people do need it there should be a plan put in place with a short time period for them to get back on their feet so they don't have to rely on these programs. Or have them give something back. John F. Kennedy comes to mind when he said, "ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."

Cass Sunstein, co-author of the book Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness, whom also was appointed by President Barack Obama as "Regulatory Czar."

First let me talk about the book Nudge. Amazon.com asked the authors what they mean by the title and why do people need nudged?

"By a nudge we mean anything that influences our choices. A school cafeteria might try to nudge kids toward good diets by putting the healthiest foods at front. We think that it's time for institutions, including government, to become much more user-friendly by enlisting the science of choice to make life easier for people and by gentling nudging them in directions that will make their lives better."

To make a lengthy discussion short, the major premise of the book is that people should be nudged to make a decision that will make them better off. On the outside it seems like good intentions and many people applaude and praise Cass Sunstein for his insight. Recent audio/video has been uncovered of Mr. Sunstein expressing how he feels about people.

"Once we know people are human and have some Homer Simpson in them, then there's a lot that can be done to manipulate them."

To break it down, we are too stupid to make our own decisions and need to be nudged into making better decisions. [SOURCE]

I was raised to believe that the agency of man (i.e. free will, choice) is a gift from God. We came to Earth to learn good from evil and to experience mortal life to experience opposites for ourselves. How can we know pain if we don't know pleasure? How can we love if we don't know hate? The point is, it is our choice. I don't need anyone nudging me into making a decision that they think is best. I will make a decision that I think is best, and if it doesn't turn out that it is the best decision, I will learn and grow from it and become a stronger and better person for it. If someone is making the decision for me that doesn't happen.

Now let me introduce you to Satan, the Devil, Lucifer. There are bits and pieces in the Bible where we learn how Satan became Satan. I personally believe that we lived with God before coming to Earth and there was a grand council in Heaven where God presented the Plan of Salvation...the pathway to be "saved"...and we "sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy" (Job 38:7). At the heart of this Plan of Salvation was the way to get back, and God asked for a volunteer on who should he send to redeem mankind. The firstborn of God, known as Jehovah, was the first to volunteer saying I do it and return the glory to thee. Lucifer also volunteered saying I will redeem all mankind that not one soul will be lost and give me thy glory. Lucifer wanted to destroy the agency of man to not give them a choice and would save every soul regardless. This is referred to as the War in Heaven as discussed in Revelations 12:7.

As we know God chose the first, in of which Lucifer then rebelled against God and took with him a third of the hosts of heaven and became Satan, the father of all lies to deceive and blind men and to lead them captive to his will.

What's the point of all of this? Well, isn't it obvious? Cass Sunstein is the Devil! Metaphorically speaking of course. Cass wants to "save" the Homer Simpsons of the world and direct/nudge them into making correct decisions that he thinks is best and not what Homer thinks is best. As "Regulatory Czar" Cass Sunstein is in a perfect position of power to regulate/nudge us into making decisions we may normally would not. For example, we go to a fast food restaurant wanting to get a burger and fries, but through regulation the restaurant industry is now requried to offer a fresh veggie or fruit on the menu instead of fries. Oh, it's happening...just read the story on The Blaze on your guide to a government regulated diet.

Because of his position of power, and the fact that he doesn't report to anyone but the President, is why Glenn Beck often refers to Cass Sunstein as the most dangerous person in America.

Does This Make Sense?

March 31, 2010 the New York Times reports: "The Obama administration is proposing to open vast expanses of water along the Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the north coast of Alaska to oil and natural gas drilling, much of it for the first time...The proposal is to be announced by President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland..."

April 20, 2010: "A methane bubble comes up from the well and explodes, killing 11 and injuring 17. The subsequent fire will burn for two days and ultimately sink the platform. The blow-out preventer, a device on the ocean floor engineered to stop the flow of oil in case of emergency, fails to engage, and crude oil gushes from the wellhead some 5,000 feet below the water’s surface." [SOURCE] Resulting in the infamous BP oil spill we've heard about over the last five months.

April 30, 2010: "Ten days after the initial explosion, the Obama administration issues a moratorium on deepwater drilling. The decision sparks controversy in Gulf communities dependent on oil drilling jobs. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will effectively overturn the ban on July 9." [SOURCE]

July 14, 2010: "Despite two federal court rejections of a drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico, President Obama has ordered a second round of deepwater suspensions while federal investigators examine the BP catastrophe. 'A pause on deepwater drilling," said Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in an official announcement, "is essential and appropriate to protect communities, coasts, and wildlife from the risks that deepwater drilling currently pose.'" August 21, 2010: "Federal documents show the Interior Department estimated its six-month ban on deepwater oil-and-gas drilling would temporarily cost about 23,000 jobs..." [SOURCE]

September 12, 2010: "Despite President Obama’s moratorium on U.S. deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. Export-Import Bank, with govt approval, intends to guarantee $1 billion in loans to PEMEX, the Mexican state oil company, to bolster the company’s oil drilling in the region... the Obama administration is happy to give a foreign country money to do what it prohibits by law its own country to do." [SOURCE]

So I ask you again, does this make sense? Obama bans oil drilling in the gulf and any future drilling, which has cost tens of thousands of jobs during a recession! The economic impact alone in the gulf region is getting worse because of it, not better. Now with government approval loans Mexico a billion dollars to exploratory drilling in the same area that' Obama banned! It doesn't make sense...unless you understand Obama and possible motives and plans of the Progressive agenda to redistribute the wealth from the rich to the poor...not just on a national level, but a global level.

What to Say?

Everyday there is so much in the news that it is difficult to keep up let alone blog about it. I find it overwhelming at times with all the craziness going on in the nation! The mainstream media continue to be biassed and ingnore the facts or even dig into credible stories that would have major impact on the minds of the American people. I just wanted to give my little tidbit on a few headlines over the past few days.

Defense/Amnesty: Not: two words you would normally couple in the same sentence let along a spending bill going through the Senate, but that hasn't stopped Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tacking on an amnesty "ammendment" to a defense spending bill in hopes to lure in Republicans. I am so sick and tired of congress tacking on items to bills that have nothing to do with the actual bill just to get it passed because it wouldn't stand on it's own two feet and never pass by itself. We need some new rules, regulation, or ammendment to the Constitution (if that what it takes) that any bill that goes through the House or Senate only applies to the actual bill and anything unrelated is either ommitted or automatically vetoed or something! The insanity has to stop!

Our Creator: For two years of my life I served as a proselytizing missionary for my church and when I visited with people to teach and discuss about God we started on basics and how everyone believed in a Supreme Being, a Creator, even though we may call them by different names. Our President claims to believe in God and His son Jesus Christ, but he can't even bring himself to refer to the Creator as he recites a portion of the Declaration of Independence...

You can tell he is reading from his trusty teleprompter and he noticeably pauses and blinks several times debating in his mind if he should just read what is displayed or omit a certain phrase..."endowed by their Creator"...in the end he chose to omit the phrase leaving Diety out of the equation. This doesn't really surprise me because afterall, we are talking about a guy who believes in "collective salvation." Which basically means he doesn't get saved unless everyone else gets saves...

Like the Pope and Glenn Beck said that this so called doctrine of collective salvation is "demonic" and a "perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ." It totally undermines the Plan of Salvation, which teaches that Christ died for our sins and we can be forgiven of them and be saved in and only through Him! Not dependent on others. I'll probably dedicate an entire post on this subject in the near future.

1 in 6 Americans Receive Government Aid

I was reading a USA Today article detailing that one is six Americans receive some sort of state or federal government assistance to meet their everyday needs. Here's a few of the highlights:

More than 50 million on Medicade, up 17% since December 2007
More than 40 million receive Food Stamps, up 50% from 3 years ago
Close to 10 million receive unemployment insurance, up four times
More than 4.4 million on welfare, up 18%

I will concede that due to the economic conditions of our nation have dramatically impacted these programs, which have caused most of the increase; and I also concede that there are some people in the nation that desperately need these programs. With that being said, there are some who abuse it intentionally. I'd like to focus on the Food Stamps and Unemployment Insurance programs.

Food Stamps - the program needs reform in a major way. I personally know a family who is on food stamps and have known other families/individuals to use the program. This family, we'll call them the Smith's, receive $500 a month in food stamps. When they first started on the program this amount was excessive and wasn't needed for their small family. Mrs. Smith only used $200-$300 that first month. The government told her that she needed to use all of the $500 each month or they wouldn't get any of it. So the Smith's now use $500 a month in food stamps and use the excess to build up food storage and have even bought food for others (illegal btw) because if they don't it's gone and they need it.

For me and my family, I work 40+ hours a week, my wife works 20 hours a week, and we budget $400 a month for food. Here I am working my butt off trying to keep myself afloat when there's this other family getting more than me a month who work less than 20 hours a week. I'm not condemning the Smith's, but how about evaluating each family/individual and giving them an amount they need...and only for necessities. Let's go a step further, let's put a limit on how long you can stay on the program. It goes back to the story of if you give a man a fish he eats for a day, but teach him how to fish he eats for a lifetime...or something like that. The more often one receives a handout the more they get used to it and expect it. Some will keep their poverty at a level to continue to receive the aid.

For me personally, and probably others, would do everything in my power NOT to receive government aid. Take personal responsibility and improve your situation...have a sense of pride!

Unemployment Insurance - originally this program was only 26 weeks and for individuals who have lost their job and receive compensastion while they find another job. This program and the benefits have been extended several times in Congress, and is now good for 99 weeks!

Again, I personally know a couple of individuals who use this benefit. "Bob" has told me he has no motivation to find a full-time job because the unemployment benefit he receives and the income from a part-time job is enough. He is not actively seeking for full-time employment because he will no longer get the unemployment benefit. This, in my opionion is wrong. By Congress extending these benefits, I think is making the economy worse. In most cases it prevents people from improving their life or finding a job because they like receiving a handout or are so used to it they look it as their paycheck or income. The following quote says it all:

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. Obama's Approval by Religious Groups

I found this poll by Gallup very interesting on President Obama's job approval rating among the different religious groups. From January 2009 through July 2010 Muslim Americans continue to give President Barack Obama the highest job approval rating of any major religious group in the U.S., while Mormons give the president the lowest ratings.

I find this interesting because I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormon). If you know anything about my faith and religion this poll and why Mormon's rate the President so low is self-evident. The majority of Mormons very conservative and Obama is the extremem opposite and is doing almost everything against what we believe. Out of control spending, big government, socialized medicine, you name it. Interesting. Not surprising. Interesting.

Living Within Our Means

The other day I was perusing around www.billoreilly.com in the store section and came across a bumper sticker/window decal that said, "We live within our means...please tell the President." I thought this was quite funny and SO TRUE! For the past couple of years my household has buckled down with our finances due to the country's economic condition. We started on a budget. We cut our spending. We cancelled our vacations. We attacked out debt. We started saving more. As such, for the first time we are finally living within our means...also known as spending less than the amount of income we receive. We are on Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover plan. Within three years we plan to be debt-free except for our house.

It is not just my household...all across the nation my fellow Americans are doing the exact same thing. Saving accounts across America actually have a positive balance now instead of negative and credit card balances have declined for the past 20+ months! I get it. Other people get it, so why doesn't Washington get it?

The opposite is happening in Washington. It seems almost every day that Congress approves some bill that contains billions of dollars worth of spending. I think it is ridiculous how our President tells us to be responsible in spending when he and Congress isn't...hypocrites. Hello? We are in a recession! The last thing you do in a recession is spend more and raise taxes and that's exactly what's been happening.

Our government needs to do what I've been doing. First they need to get on a budget. If the amount of expenditures are more than what's coming in you look at areas to cut spending/programs. You become an example to the nation by cutting back and not over spending yourselves and nobody wants to see you going on vacation every other weekend when millions of people still don't have jobs and are barely able to put food on the table. Last but not least the government needs to attack the national debt! Stop the insanity!

Chaos in the Massachusetts Health Care Market

I just learned today that Massachusetts' health care market is in chaos and did a news search on Google to find out more to see wassup and found the follwing blog post:

"The dispute has already put the two sides in court. Insurance companies are now claiming that the rejected rate increases mean they won't be able to operate at a profit, and arguing that no actuary would approve the sort of rates that state insurance regulators say they expect. Actuary sign-off is not only important for fiscal stability—it's a legal requirement in the state.

"Is this just insurance company posturing? It's entirely possible. Industries, entirely understandably, are bound to put up a fight when told they can't set their own prices. If the insurance company loses they will have no choice but to shut down and go out of business, which will lead to a single payer health care system that is paid directly by the state government...in other words, universal health care. If this is happening in a state that already has it in effect, what do you think will happen to the rest of the nation when Obamacare is fully implemented? It is exactly what Obama wants and hasn't shyed about it in the past as I have shown numerous times on this blog.

Proper Role of Government

Taken from the speech by Ezra Taft Benson titled "The Proper Role of Government." The speech is fantastic and opened my eyes on just how far off our government has become from what it was designed to do from our Founding Fathers.

I believe that no people can maintain freedom unless their political institutions are founded upon faith in God and belief in the existence of moral law.

I believe that God has endowed men with certain unalienable rights as set forth in the Declaratioth in the Declaration of Independence and that no legislature and no majority, however great, may morally limit or destroy these; that the sole function of government is to protect life, liberty, and property and anything more than this is usurpation and oppression.

I believe that the Constitution of the United States was prepared and adopted by men acting under inspiration from Almighty God; that it is a solemn compact between the peoples of the States of this nation which all officers of government are under duty to obey; that the eternal moral laws expressed therein must be adhered to or individual liberty will perish.

I believe it a violation of the Constitution for government to deprive the individual of either life, liberty, or property except for these purposes:
- Punish crime and provide for the administration of justice
- Protect the right and control of private property
- Wage defensive war and provide for the nation's defense
- Compel each one who enjoys the protection of government to bear his fair share of the burden of performing the above functions

I hold that the Constitution denies government the power to take from the individual either his life, liberty, or property except in accordance with moral law; that the same moral law which governs the actions of men when acting alone is also applicable when they act in concert with others; that no citizen or group of citizens has any right to direct their agent, the government to perform any act which would be evil or offensive to the conscience if that citizen were performing the act himself outside the framework of government.

I am unalterable opposed to Socialism, either in whole or in part, and regard it as an unconstitutional usurpation of power and a denial of the right of private property for government to own or operate the means of producing and distributing goods and services in competition with private enterprise, or to regiment owners in the legitimate use of private property.

I maintain that every person who enjoys the protection of his life, liberty, and property should bear his fair share of the cost of government in providing that protection; that the elementary priing that protection; that the elementary principles of justice set forth in the Constitution demand that all taxes imposed be uniform and that each person's property or income be taxed at the same rate.

I believe in honest money, the gold and silver coinage of the Constitution, and a circulation medium convertible into such money without loss. I regard it as a flagrant violation of the explicit provisions of the Constitution for the Federal Government to make it a criminal offense to use gold or silver coin as legal tender or to use irredeemable paper money.

I believe that each State is sovereign in performing those functions reserved to it by the Constitution and it is destructive of our federal system and the right of self-government guaranteed under the Constitution for the Federal Government to regulate or control the States in performing their functions or to engage in performing such functions itself.

I consider it a violation of the Constitution for the Federal Government to levy taxes for the support of state or local government; that no State or local government can accept funds from the Federal and remain independent in performing its functions, nor can the citizens exercise their rights of self-government under such conditions.

I deem it a violation of the right of private property guaranteed under the Constitution for the Federal Government to forcibly deprive the citizens of this nation of their nation of their property through taxation or otherwise, and make a gift thereof to foreign governments or their citizens.

I believe that no treaty or agreement with other countries should deprive our citizens of rights guaranteed them by the Constitution.

I consider it a direct violation of the obligation imposed upon it by the Constitution for the Federal Government to dismantle or weaken our military establishment below that point required for the protection of the States against invasion, or to surrender or commit our men, arms, or money to the control of foreign ore world organizations of governments. These things I believe to be the proper role of government.

Sunday March 21, 2010 will go down in history and be recorded in the history books, which would mark the beginning of the end of the United States of America as we know it. The House of Representatives passed the Senate health care reform bill with a reconciliation package (219 to 216 majority vote), which President Obama is expected to sign into law tomorrow Tuesday March 23, 2010. This action will fundamentally transform the United States of America. This bill is completely partisan - not one single Republican voted yea.

A couple of things this article points out make me very uneasy. The first being "...employers will have to disclose the cost of workers' health coverage on their W-2 tax forms starting in 2011..." Basically, employers are going to be taxed on the health insurance that they provide for their employees up to 40%! Employers will be forced to lower coverage or pass on the cost to their employers...premiums will skyrocket even more.

Another thing is the uninsured will be now insured. Pre-existing conditions will no longer apply and insurance companies will be required to insure you. That's good if you have pre-existing conditions, but bad for everyone else. Insurance companies will be forced to raise premiums because they know that they will have to pay out more benefits. Premiums will skyrocket even more.

I personally believe that these two items alone will lead our nation to have a universal/single payer health care system. Private insurance will be forced out of business because it will no longer be profitable. When this "crisis" happens the government will have "no choice" but to step in and take control. Even Vice-President's Biden's said last week, "you know we will control the insurance companies." When the government controls the insurance they control how we live our lives through regulation. One-sixth of my freedom and liberty just flew out the window and not too happy about it. More to come...

T-Minus 72-hours

Within the past hour the House of Representatives released and posted online their reconciliation package of the health care reform bill. It's some 2,000+ pages and is scheduled to be debated on the House floor for in two days for only four hours. How in the heck our our representatives supposed to read and analyze the bill in 48 hours?

WHY THE RUSH?

I can only think of a one reasonable reason, which is one of the same reasons why the President wanted to get it passed before the August break last year. The congressional leaders and President Obama knows that if congress can go home to their respective states they will get an ear full from their constituents who are overwhelmingly opposed to this health care reform bill and how congress is going about trying to get it passed. Plus they are keeping them busy on the weekends for the same reason.

It looks like the House is going to use the "Slaughter Rule" which will "deem it passed" without even actually even voting on the bill. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, knows that they don't have the votes so they will do anything to get this passed. The funny thing is that all Republican are against the bill and will not be voting on it. Democrats have control in the House, but they can't seem to agree with one another and the in-party disputes has what's been holding up the vote!

On FoxNews' Live with Megan Kelly today she talked about a new poll that was just released showing now 85% of Americans are against the health care reform bill. 85%!!! Is Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the President ignorant that America is overwhelminly against it! No. They know and don't care. It's their kamikazi. They started on a path in which they cannot turn back and are in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. This weekend is the moment of truth and a vote that could fundamentally transform the United States of America.

Before I knew anything about politics and when it came time to cast my first vote I had no clue on whom to vote for or why. I voted how my parents voted. I am now almost 33 years old and have finally developed my own ideas and beliefs within just the past couple of years. I define myself as a conservative because…

I believe in a fiscally conservative government. Government does not have the right to run up large amount of debts and then throw the burden on the taxpayer. Currently, our government is out of control in spending and expanding the scope and size of the U.S. government. President Obama’s spending budget is enough to make anyone cringe. In addition, taxpayer dollars continue to be wasted away on projects and programs that are not needed.

I believe in a strong national defense. I believe as former President Ronald Reagan believed where he said, “The United States does not start fights. We will never be an aggressor. We maintain our strength in order to deter and defend against aggression – to preserve freedom and peace.” (National Security Speech, March 23, 1981.) I would add to that – if you thrown the first punch, we return the punch a hundred fold. Attacking America would be the biggest mistake anyone would ever make and regret for the rest of their lives. Our national defenses need to be strong enough to intimidate any foreign enemy that wants to hurt us that will know the repercussions if attacked.

I believe in a free market and Capitalism. America became America because of the free market and the prosperity of Capitalism. An environment where there is no holds bar whether you make it or break it. Everyone has the same opportunity to succeed. This country was built on entrepreneurs and their small enterprises for almost all the economic growth in the United States. Today it seems like small business owners and entrepreneurs are under attack with new taxes that will significantly hurt their business, which will not allow them to grow and create more jobs. I am against using taxpayer dollars to bail out private companies. They are not too big to fail. Let the free market work. Let them fail. Let them restructure. Let them learn from their own mistakes instead of nursing them through their problems because when the next problem comes up guess what they’re going to do? Come back for more.

I believe in a sovereign nation. The power is in the people. The people govern the government. The people have the right to alter or abolish government. Synonyms for sovereignty include: independence, control, liberty, jurisdiction, supremacy, and dominion. We are free and have to right for the “pursuit of happiness.” The people have control and jurisdiction, but when the government decides to get more and more involved in the liberties of the people is when we lose those liberties and freedoms.

I believe in a limited government. The Constitution was designed for the government to be limited. Government does not need to be in every aspect of our lives – we can govern ourselves. We don’t need the government to tell us what to do or how to do it. Like Ronald Reagan said, “Government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem.” It seems like when every government gets involved the messier it gets and more difficult to get it right. There are political movements and groups whose sole purpose is expanding the size and scope of the government and making all have things in common in the name of social justice like the Progressive movement. The Constitution stands in their way of their agenda and they know that well and continue to attack the Constitution and try get around it. The Founding Fathers intended the government to be limited with the majority of the power in the people with a system of checks and balances.

I am taking an online class called American Government from a local state university and part of that class I have to write three separate papers on three different subjects on my person political views. The following is paper #1: The Best Form of Government Is...

In a diary entry of James McHenry he wrote, “Outside Independence Hall when the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended, Mrs. Powell of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, ‘Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?’ With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, ‘A republic, if you can keep it.’” This statement of America being a republic got me thinking because I grew up to believe that America was a democracy. I then also realized the wording of the Pledge of Allegiance where it says, “I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands…” also references that America is a republic and not a monarchy or democracy. It would seem that over time that the meanings have been skewed or the people do not know the difference between the two.

After my research, I believe a Republican form of government is the best form of government rather than a Monarchy or Democracy, which the Founding Fathers intended and set up.

A Democracy needs a full participation of all the people in the decision-making process of government. As discussed in one of our discussion assignments I don’t think that this would work because we, the people, get so busy and occupied with just our daily lives and things that we need to do will not take the time to study the issues or participate in hearings or debates before the vote is taken. Where it has been tried almost always ends in tyranny.

A Republic is a representative form of government where the people elect officials to represent them as a whole and vote on how the majority of the people would vote on the issues of the day. “[James] Madison point[ed] out how an expanding country like the United States could not possibly confine itself to the limitations of a democracy, but must rely upon a representative or republic form of government to protect the ever-expanding interests of its people.” (W. Cleon Skousen, The 5000 Year Leap, p. 154.)

Our government today and how it was originally was set up and design was that of a Republic. The Founding Fathers had hoped that the clear distinction between a Republic and Democracy would continue down through the generations to come, but during the early 19th century the seeds were planted, which I have no time or room to discuss, that later grew to be consistently identified in both the press and the text books as a democracy. This new way of looking at the United States as a democracy was actually designed as an attack on the Constitutional structure of government and the basic rights it was designed to protect.

A republic and the Constitution that was created is designed to protect these basic and “unalienable rights endowed by [our] creator,” which Progressives knew set up a limited government that got in their way of their radical agenda in the name of social justice. The republic and Constitution, I believe, are literally under attack. If lost, the republic and Constitution would fail. The result would be a fundamental transformation of the United States of America….just as Barack Obama said would happen five days before winning the presidential election.

The republic is the best way to protect the interests of the American people and keep government limited and not into every facet of our lives. We elect representatives to represent us and what the majority of the people want…not the other way around. Our elected officials need to set aside their own personal desires of what they believe and start adhering to what the people want and desire. If not, we have the power to elect them out of office and get someone in who will actually serve the people instead of their own selfish desires.

Inspired by Glenn Beck, I have taken it upon myself to study the history of our country and learn about specific political movements. The book I am reading is called American Progressivism edited by Ronald J. Pestritto and William J. Atto, which gives a history of how the progressive movement came to be over a century ago and what it means to be a progressive.

In the introduction of the book, page 3, under the section "The Principles of Progressivism" it reads:

"The Progressive Era was the first major period in American political development to feature, as a primary characteristic, the open and direct criticism of the Constitution...the Progressive Era was unique in that such criticism formed the backbone of the entire movement...[progressives] knew that the limits placed on the national government by the Constitution represented major obstacles to implementing the progressive policy agenda. Progressives had in mind a variety of legislative programs aimed at regulating significant portions of the American economy and society and at redistributing private property in the name of social justice. The Constitution, if interpreted and applied faithfully, stood in the way of this agenda."

545 vs. 300,000,000 People

I received an email yesterday from one of my eighty-three first cousins (no joke) that gave me a new and different perspective. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinal, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It's a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts – of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ.

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives, is also hell-bent on getting this legislation passed as soon as possible. It's amazing what comes out of her mouth sometimes. She said, "...we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." Are you kidding me? The future of America's economy isn't a grab bag that you buy for a $1 trillion and look in after the fact...surprise! NO! NO! NO! We need to know what is in the bill and how it will affect us completely BEFORE it is passed! What a freakin' joke.

If the House passes the bill it will go back to the Senate, in which Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leaders plans on using the "reconciliation" or "nuclear" option to pass it with a simple majority that President Obama recently came out in support of when he was against it in 2007 saying you can't govern like that. Another flip flop from the master flopper flips his mind.

We have to ask the question why? Why is President Obama so determined on getting this passed when the majority of American's are against it? Why is he risking his office? Why did Pelosi encourage fellow democrats to support the bill even if it means their careers? Why force it down our throats? WHY?!

This will be the first time that I have personally participated in the official census mandated by the Constitution of the United States (Article I, Section II). To my initial understanding of the purpose of the census is to determine the population of the country. I decided to do some research and find out if there is anything more to it.

From 2010census.gov under the section Why It's Important it says, "...Census information affects the numbers of seats your state occupies in the U.S. House of Representatives...an accurate count of residents can [help you and] for your community. Better infrastructure. More services." From everything that I have researched the information the government needs is the total amount of people living in my home at a certain date. That sounds like a one question survey, but I learned that the census form is ten questions. "What could the other questions be?" I asked myself. I found them on the same website with a description of why they ask that particular question.

How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2010?
Were there any additional people staying here April 1, 2010 that you did not include in Question 1?
Is this a house, apartment, or mobile home?
What is your telephone number? We may call you if we don't understand your answer?
Please provide information for each person living here. What is Person 1's name?
What is Person 1's sex?
What is Person 1's age and what is Person 1's date of birth?
Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin?
What is Person 1's race?
Does Person 1 sometimes live or stay somewhere else?

The reasons why they ask these questions doesn't really convince me that they need to be asked in the first place. The government has my information already...all they need to do is punch in my social security number and wahla! it's there. I will be answering the first question and mail it in. If they call me because they "don't understand my answer" I will ask how did you get my phone number since I didn't include it on the form and followed by what part of 4 persons living in my house on April 1, 2010 don't you understand? If they proceed to press for answers on the remaining questions I will explain that there is no place in the constitution for me to give that information...only the number of people living in my house. Thanks, buh bye.

Obama Won't Quit

I am not talking about President Obama's smoking addiction, but about Healthcare. I know I haven't posted for awhile, but have been following the news and the political arena closely. There has been SO MUCH going on I find it difficult to try and pick one area and talk about it with my limited free time.

America has spoken. 73% want this supposed healthcare reform bill scrapped. 52% are against reform altogether. Still, President Obama is doing all that he can to push this through and get it passed as soon as possible. He even came out recently and said he is in support of "reconciliation" also known as the nuclear option. This means that the Senate only needs a simple majority vote of 51 instead of 60 to pass a bill. I could spend a entire post about this, but am focusing on President Obama's support for reconciliation. In 2007, then Senator Barack Obama said:

"You've got to break out of what I call, sort of, the 50-plus-one pattern of presidential politics. Maybe you eke out a victory of 50-plus-one, then you can't govern. You know, you get Air Force One, I mean there are a lot of nice perks, but you can't deliver on health care. We're not going to pass universal health care with a 50-plus-one strategy."

All of the sudden the President is for 50-plus-one pattern of presidential politics? I shouldn't be surprised that Obama has conflicting statements, but how much more can we take of this America? He is now only considering this because he knows that he doesn't have the votes to get it passed...especially since Senator Scott Brown won a senate seat after 40+ years of Democratic Ted Kennedy's came open after his death.

President Obama doesn't care about healthcare reform. All he cares about is getting the structure for healthcare reform in place so it can expand and get into every area of our life and control one-sixth of the economy!

The following clip is a radio address given by former President Reagan speaking out against socialized medicine. It is just over ten minutes long, but please take the time to listen to it as it will open your eyes.

Today President Obama targeted health insurers again accusing they're directly responsible for rising health care costs and the constant rise of insurance premiums.

"Insurance companies, the president argued, have made a calculation. He cited a recent Goldman Sachs conference call in which an insurance broker told investors that insurers are willing to lose some customers through premium hikes because of an overall lack of competition in the industry." -CNN

President Obama's idea of competition is an "insurance exvhange" idealy with a "public option" that would be government funded. No matter what anyone says, YOU CANNOT COMPETE WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! It will drive the private insurance industry out of business...exactly what they want.

I agree that there is a lack of competition when it comes to choosing a health care provider. It does drive premium rates up...there's no doubt in my mind. Republicans have suggested to open up state lines where health insurance can be purchased from any state. This would immediately drive rates down because when there's more companies in the mix they have more to compete with. Competition is good...it what makes the free market work. Look at Wal-Mart for example. Last year they started a perscription pill program where for only $10 you could get a three month supply. Not long after, other companies followed suit because all their business was going somewhere else and to stay competitive they were forced to lower their rates, which is good for us.

Uh, President Obama? Shouldn't you be focusing on the millions of American that don't have a job instead of jamming healthcare down our mouth? We don't need another big government program that will cost taxpayers almost $1 trillion over the next decade...some estimate it'll cost over $2 trillion.

"What the American people would like us to do is not make this gargantuan mistake," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, told ABC's "This Week."

These lines are some of the most popular lines in the Declaration of Independence. I wanted to focus on just one part and a possible new meaning on "...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men..." Especially the "life" aspect of the declaration.

Life is an unalienable right "endowed by [our] Creator" and governments are instituted to secure this right. Am I wrong making that statement? For me "to secure" means "to protect." To protect life...including the unborn. Yes, I'm talking about abortion.

I believe life begins at conception. The ONLY time I think where abortion would be okay is if a pregnancy was due to rape, incest, or threatens the life of the mother. "From 1973 through 2005, more than 45 million legal abortions have occurred in the United States." Source 45 MILLION!!! That is an astounding number! 45 million souls who do not get to experience mortal life. Lives who won't get to know right from wrong, know the love of family, experience love themselves, and not know the joy and happiness of creating life themselves. The thought sickens me to the very core.

Our government has the duty and responsibility to protect life. Abortion has been a hot topic in current health care reform legislation in Washington D.C. this past year because there are some that say that tax dollars should not be used for abortions and some say that it should. To protect life, abortion needs to be made illegal (except for reasons as previously mentioned).

I personally haven't read the proposed House or Senate health care reform bill, but I found somebody who has read the entire House document. On his Website, Believe All Things it says,

"[this bill] does provide for rationing of health care...free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation of abortions by members of the medical profession."

Isn't this the opposite direction our government should be going? I do not want MY tax dollars going to fund abortions! The only place abortion has in any piece of legislation is to ban it and make it illegal. I am going to do my own research and find out for myself if tax payer funded abortions would be in this bill, and if it is do everything in my power to fight against it and hope you would too.

Word of caution: DO NOT do a Google image search for "abortion" - almost made me throw up and brought me to tears. But if you think abortion is okay, go ahead and do it...make sure the "safe search" is off.

All Eyes on Massachusetts

***UPDATE*** Scott Brown is victorious in Massachusetts sending shock waves through Washington and the whole Democratic base. Will this make them rethink their plans? We'll just have to wait and see.

It’s not very often that the eyes of the entire nation are looking on individual State Senate races, but in Massachusetts it is different this time around. As you may be aware, Senator Ted Kennedy passed away little while ago and tomorrow is the special election to fill his empty Senate seat. Massachusetts is a Democratic leaning state and has not elected a Republican Senator since 1972. This may all change tomorrow.

What was to be a shoe in for Attorney General Martha Coakley is now desperation to win. The latest poll from Politico.com shows Republican Scott Brown ahead by 9 percentage points at 52% while Martha Coakley at 43%. Democrats in Washington are frantic and pulling all the stops to help Coakley. I mean the President made a special trip to Massachusetts to campaign for her, the President’s buddies at SEIU donated $687,000 toward her campaign last week, Ed Schultz (Liberal talk radio host) is encouraging liberals to participate in voting fraud by trying to vote more than once to cheat the system, and ACORN is doing their thing (may or may not be helping underage prostitutes). Why are the Democrats/Liberals/Progressives pulling out all the stops and desperate that Martha Coakley wins?

Health care reform. It’s all about health care reform that is currently being reconciled in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Democrats currently have a super majority in the Senate with 60 votes of 100, which effectively stops any Republican filibuster. If just one vote is lost health care reform is also lost. Republican Scott Brown has surrounded his campaign on one specific issue: “I will be the 41st vote to stop universal health care.”

A couple of years ago this would have been impossible, but Massachusetts is different. The state has already tried universal health care…they’ve been there and done that. It has failed miserably. For the residents in Massachusetts health insurance premiums have skyrocketed, budgets have been exceeded, and benefits have been slashed to cut costs. The residents have seen and experienced this first hand and are not impressed and do not want this to go national.

A victory for Scott Brown would be huge wake up call for Democrats in Washington and hopefully for President Obama if his pride and arrogance doesn’t get in the way. I know this is wishful thinking, but maybe Obama will rethink his progressive agenda and govern in the best interest of all the people instead of his special interest groups like SEIU. It will be interesting on the outcome tomorrow and the reaction on both sides.

Obama Cuts Deal With Unions

My previous post explained how President Obama wants to tax high end insurance plans also known as the "Cadillac Tax." This 40% tax would apply to insurance plans over $8,000 for individuals and $21,000 for families...except for big labor union workers, like SEIU. Don't know who SEIU is? President Obama does...

Did you hear that? He said, "Your agenda has been my agenda in the United States Senate. Before debating health care I talked to Andy Stern [CEO, SEIU] and SEIU members...we've worked together over these last few years, and I'm proud of what we've done. I'm just not satisfied. Because I know how much more we can accomplish as partners in an Obama Administration. Just imagine...just imagine what we can do together."

Who's running our country? Barack Obama or Unions? (aka special interests, lobbyists, etc.) Hey? Didn't Obama promise that he wouldn't have any special interests or lobbyists in his administration? Another broken promise. If this health care bill gets passed Unions will be exempt for the 40% Cadillac tax until 2018, but we all know that it will be a lot longer than that. Because of unions being exempt, it is estimated that $60 billion will need to be found somewhere else? Where will it come from? You, I, and everyone else...except you know who.

By the way, SEIU has donated $687,000 to Martha Coakley's campaign in the Senate Massachusetts race due to an unknown Republican, Scott Brown climbing ahead in the polls. Why? To help protect the 60th vote in the Senate to pass this health care bill. If Scott Brown gets elected he's determined to be the 41st vote against the bill to stop it dead in its tracks. President Obama is even making a trip there tomorrow to give his "helping hand." The election is Tuesday...let's pray Scott Brown is victorious!

Promise, Lies, & Health Care

According to Wikipedia, a "Cadillac" health insurance plan "is defined by the U.S. Senate Finance Committee...with yearly premiums higher than $8,000 for individuals or $21,000 for families, but colloquially refers to any expensive plan." During the campaign trail, Barack Obama attacked John McCain because he wanted to tax the high end health insurance plans in which Obama "firmly pledged" he would not do himself.

The first part of this YouTube video is an NPR interview with President Barack Obama on December 23, 2009 basically saying he's going to move forward with the "cadillac tax" and the second part is the video on the campagin trail where he attacked John McCain for wanting to do the same thing.

Who or what companies provides the majority of the plans, and what would the effect be if these plans were suddenly taxed? Large corporations, labor unions, and independently owned companies that want to provide the best possible health insurance for their employees and are willing to pay for the majority of it.

One of thing things could happen if these Cadillac plans were taxed that the corporations, labor unions, or independently owned companies were required to pay? (1) Employers would increase premiums to pass on the added cost on to employees to keep the same coverage. (2) Employers would drop Cadillac plans to avoid the tax, which would result in more out-of-pocket costs for employees because they don't have the same coverage as before. Either way, it ends up costing us, the employees more. We would pay the Cadillac tax, not the companies. Eventually, over time, this would lead employers to dropping coverage to their employees all together which would cause a "crisis" where the government would have to step in and provide a government run insurance plan so individuals will still have health care coverage which would lead to a universal health care plan and drive the private insurance industry out of business, just like Obama has always wanted.

I no long believe anything Barack Obama says to be true (not that I did in the first place). Just like on the campaign trail, he will say anything that appeals to the American people to get elected and he will keep saying anything to push through his radical agenda regardless if the people are against it. Whenever Obama starts off something with, "Let me be clear" you know the next words out of his mouth is a lie. It's all about broken promises, lies, and do anything to get health care reform passed.

Senator Chris Dodd Resigns

Name: Senator Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut)

1974-1980, elected to the House of Representatives
1980-2010, one of the longest serving Senators in Connecticut's history and the 9th most senior of current Senators and one of the three from the 1980 freshman class still serving.
1995-1997, General Chairman of the Democratic National Committee
Currently appointed as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee - one of the most powerful positions within the Senate
2006, ran for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, but eventually withdrew after running behind several other competitors
2010, announced he would not run for re-election in the 2010 mid-term elections.

I find the announcing of his retirement very interesting. I mean Dodd is a very liberal Democrat, and it seems that all that liberal Democrats want is power and more power. He's been in the Senate for over three decades and holds one of the most powerful positions within the Senate and even made a run for President of the United States in 2008 and suddenly from his own words, "to step aside so that someone else can step up." It doesn't make sense besides that fact that there was no way he was going to be re-elected anyway with sagging poll numbers over the past year. I believe that he knows this and decided to resign with dignity rather than lose with shame. But maybe it was something else?

In a news piece by the Associated Press, "Embattled Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd was all but forced to quit, and North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan also ditched his re-election effort in the face of a difficult race. Dodd's announcement Wednesday may actually save the Democrats' hold on his seat — the party quickly recruited a stronger candidate — but Dorgan's retirement may cost the party a seat in his Republican-leaning state. And that would mean the loss of a critical 60th vote in the Senate."

I think the powers that be (a.k.a. the Annointed One (i.e. Barack Obama)) asked him to resign. Obama knows there is no way that if Senator Dodd ran for re-election he would, which would then lose a seat in Senate to a Republican, which then would be unable to stop a Republican fillisbuster, which would then prevent Obama from moving forward with his radical agenda he has for this country. By asking him to resign gives the opportunity for a young, strong, untainted Democrat to take his place and still hold that "critical 60th vote in the Senate."

After over thirty years, suddenly he's just going to give up all that power that took him so long to gain? What golden parachute, if any, did he receive by doing so? What did he get? Or should we just give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure as the days and months progress something will be learned on the true reason and deal that he made to resign without a fight. I just hope that this alleged plan backfires and a Republican or Conservative sweeps the upcoming race and wins the vote. Definitely something to keep an eye on.

A Right or a Privilege?

Senator Tom Harkin said this just before the December 24, 2009 Senate vote on health care reform:

"On one side is health care as a privilege; on the other side is health care a right. With these these votes, with the vote that we'll take before Christmas, we will cross that line finally and say that health care is a right of all Americans." Source

He is of course referencing the Declaration of Independence where it says, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..." What is an unalienable right? When is a right unalienable?

"The Founders did not believe that the basic rights of mankind originated from an social compact, king, emperor, or government authority. When the Left like Senator Harkin says that health care is a right, is he referencing that providing affordable health care for everybody is endowed by our Creator? Or is he and our government taking the place of God and creating this right for everybody? If so, that is a scary thought because they would also have the power to take that right away (i.e. death panels, rationing of health care benefits, etc.).

I personally believe that health care is a privilege, not a right. We are responsible for our own personal health. We should not rely on anyone else, especially the government, to provide or make sure that we have health care coverage. History has shown over and over again, the more the government gets involved the bigger the problem and usually more expensive. In the words of President Ronald Reagan, "Government is not the solution to our problems. Government is the problem."

This monstrosity health care reform bill (over 2,500 pages) that is currently being reconciled between both houses of congress is just a political structure that the Left have been wanting for nearly a hundred years to have more control over our lives. It is a doorway to socialism, and all they need is to their foot in the door and then they will be able to expand and add things like a public government run health care system. Health care is not a right and should not be treated as one and we must not let our government put in place the structure they want to take even more control of our economy and lives.

Obama's Freshman Year

During the campaign for President of the United States, then Senator Barack Obama said it was going to do a lot of things and made a lot of promises. I came across this Website - http://www.politifact.com/ - tracking Obama's campaign promises to see if the promises are being kept, broken, compromised, stalled, or in the works. There's over 500 promises they are tracking. I want to discuss some of those promises and what Obama has done in 2009, his Freshman Year.

"As president, Barack Obama will close the detention facility at Guantanamo."

"On his second full day in office [January 22, 2009], President Obama issued an executive order to review the disposition of prisoners being held at the naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and ordered that the detention facility be closed within a year." Technically, President Obama still has 17 days to make good on this comittment, but it probably won't happen. Obama advisors/spokespersons have recently said it could take another year or two. There also continues to be a lot of controversy if closing of Guantanamo Bay is the right thing to do.

"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government."

President Obama and his administration is currently under fire for transparency due to his promise not being kept for allowing health care negotiations from all sides and being broadcasted on C-SPAN so the public can see what is being done. As the Senate and House reconcile their respective bills Obama and the Democrats have opted to shut everybody out and make their back room deals as usual. These negotiations will not be broadcasted on C-SPAN or be made available to the public for review before vote either. In fact, public review shows the majority of Americans are against the current bill for health care reform, which was displayed all over the country in townhall meetings and Tea Parties for most of 2009.

I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income taxes, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.

Let's start with the "Cap and Trade" plan that Obama is proposing. During a videotaped interview he did with the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board very early in his presidential campaign, January 2008: "Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers." The Cap and Trade bill is currently stalled and not being debated in either branch of congress, but I gaurantee that it will be back soon...health care reform is at the top of the agenda. Speaking of health care reform, passage of this bill will most likely raise taxes. With the bribe, I mean the deal that Senator Ben Nelson got for the state of Nebraska (i.e. fully fund his state's expanded Medicaid population for the first three years like other states, but the only state to continue after the three years forever and ever) will raise payroll Medicare taxes for every working citizen.

I will promise you this...that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am President, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. 10/27/07

It is clear that Obama knows nothing about being in a war or managing one for that matter. A total lack of inexperience and for him to promise something like this is foolish. Well, he became president and ending the war was not the first thing he did, rather it was signing an executive order to close Gitmo, which by the way isn't going to happen either as previously discussed. Not only he hasn't ended the war, it seems like it's at the bottom of his "to do" list. Toward the end of August 2009, General McChrystal, that Obama appointed, sent a report to his Commander and Chief recommending a minimum of 40,000 additional troops or there won't be the man power needed to overcome the enemy. It sat on Obama's desk until early December when he finally decided to send 30,000 troops at the same time planning to bring our troops home. Does that make sense to you? Yah, me neither. He's trying to appeal to both sides. Either do all that we can to win the war and end it or bring them home.

Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Capitol Hill,
All the Senators were stirring, for a vote on the health care bill.
Harry Reid was strung by President Obama with care,
In hopes all of the bribes will continue to be there.

The Democrats and Independents were all snug in their seats,
While visions of a government takeover danced within reach.
And Obama in his white house, and Pelosi with her fake smile,
Were just getting started being giddy like a spoiled little child.

When out on the white house lawn there wasn’t such a clatter,
Because the mainstream media did not seem to matter.
Soon out the window our freedoms and liberties flash,
Not listening to the people and spending too much cash.

“I have done nothing this year,” Obama says to himself,
As he looks at the Nobel Peace Prize high on his shelf.
“This health care reform will help me and you,
Just as long as I don’t have to go on it too!”

The Democrats are anxious just to get something done,
But they can’t seem to stand together as one.
Harry Reid has his bull whip, his votes on the line,
“We must end this crisis! We are running out of time!”

Why such a rush to shove this down our throats now?
When it doesn’t even kick in three years from now!
They have no problem with raising taxes and implementing fines,
But again, “We must end this crisis! We’ve run out of time!”

Logic is missing and common sense is gone,
No one wants to admit that this nonsense is wrong.
Socialized medicine and health care for all!
Unless you are under age 65, death comes to us all.

They say this health care reform bill will save money and lives,
But all it will do is send the economy in a deeper nose dive!
This bill will force you to buy health insurance or pay a big fine,
So much for promises and President Obama not taxing a dime.

Now Harkin, now Wyden, now Dodd and Levin!
All “sell outs” to their country, confident they won’t take the fall,

The Patriotic Retirement Act

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan."

There are about 40 million people over [age] 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - unemployment fixed.
They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - auto industry fixed.
They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - housing crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of Congress [and federal postal workers] pay their taxes.

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll be both programs would be fixed pronto!

Oath of Office

The Constitution contains an oath of office only for the president. For other government officials, including members of Congress, the document specifies only that they "shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation to support the Constitution."

The First Congress, in 1789, reworked this requirement into a simple fourteen-word oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States."

At the beginning of the Civil War, Congress expanded the oath. That text is the earliest direct predecessor of the current oath. Then, in August 1862, a section was added, known as the "Ironclad Test Oath."

It required all civil servants and military officers to swear not only to future loyalty, as required by the existing oath, but also to affirm that they had never previously engaged in criminal or disloyal conduct. Those failing to take the 1862 Test Oath would not receive a salary. Ironically, Congress did not extend coverage of the Ironclad Test Oath to its own members.

In 1884, two decades after the Civil War ended, Congress quietly repealed the Test Oath section, leaving intact what is today's current affirmation of constitutional allegiance:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

You would think that in order to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States" that you would need to know and understand the Constitution right?

When asked where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that the government can mandate that everyone have health insurance:

Mary Landrieu (D-LA) - "Well, we're very lucky as members of the Senate to have constitutional lawyers on our staff, so I'll let them answer that." By the way, if you don't know who Mary Landrieu is...she was on the fence with the health care reform bill until she found out that in it contained a $300 million "bribe" for her state. Mary passes off the question to the lawyers. James freely admits that it's unconstitutional. And the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is flabbergasted that the question was even asked!

It's not about health care reform of helping those who don't have health insurance. It's about putting an infrastructure in place that allows the government to seize more control over our lives.

Cut and Expand

The U.S. Senate has been debating the health care reform bill the past couple of weeks. During this time it was voted that Medicare funding would be cut by $400 billion. On another subject, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has said, "We've overcome a real problem that we had," announcing what he called a "broad agreement" Tuesday night.

That agreement...the new government run health care option is dead. Off the table. Dead. Iced. No longer exisits. Instead they've decided to expand an already existing government run health care plan - Medicare. This plan will open Medicare benefits to uninsured Americans from age 65 to age 55 starting in 2011.

Didn't they just vote to cut Medicare funding and now they want to expand eligibility coverage?

"60 Minutes" did an exposé on Sunday October 25, 2009 on Medicare fraud. Presented by CBS's Steve Kroft outlines facts and figures that are unsettling on how the system gets milked for an estimated $60 billion per year! Read summary here.

By the way, isn't Medicare bankrupt? Or about to be? Hmmm, let's cut funding and then expand it! That makes perfect sense! (Can you sense my sarcasm?) Fraud will double. Taxes will surge. Benefits and quality of care will drop. How can they not see this? How do members of Congress who are for this expect to remain in office? I am tempted to move to another state where the congressmen are for this just to help vote them out of office next year!

The pro-Obama narrative featured an almost mystically talented young idealist who stood for change in a disciplined and thoughtful way. The speech’s success will be judged not only on the logic of the presentation but on whether Obama communicates in a more visceral way what progress looks like and why it is worth achieving. No soldier wants to take a bullet in the name of nuance.

"That’s the Chicago Way

"This is a storyline that’s likely taken root more firmly in Washington than around the country. The rap is that his West Wing is dominated by brass-knuckled pols.

"It does not help that many West Wing aides seem to relish an image of themselves as shrewd, brass-knuckled political types. In a Washington Post story this month, White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina, referring to most of Obama’s team, said, “We are all campaign hacks.”

"The problem is that many voters took Obama seriously in 2008 when he talked about wanting to create a more reasoned, non-partisan style of governance in Washington. When Republicans showed scant interest in cooperating with Obama at the start, the Obama West Wing gladly reverted to campaign hack mode.

"The examples of Chicago-style politics include their delight in public battles with Rush Limbaugh and Fox News and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. (There was also a semi-public campaign of leaks aimed at Greg Craig, the White House counsel who fell out of favor.) In private, the Obama team cut an early deal — to the distaste of many congressional Democrats — that gave favorable terms to the pharmaceutical lobby in exchange for their backing his health care plans.

"The lesson that many Washington insiders have drawn is that Obama wants to buy off the people he can and bowl over those he can’t. If that perception spreads beyond Washington this will scuff Obama’s brand as a new style of political leader.

"He’s a pushover

"If you are going to be known as a fighter, you might as well reap the benefits. But some of the same insider circles that are starting to view Obama as a bully are also starting to whisper that he’s a patsy.

"It seems a bit contradictory, to be sure. But it’s a perception that began when Obama several times laid down lines — then let people cross them with seeming impunity. Last summer he told Democrats they better not go home for recess until a critical health care vote but they blew him off. He told the Israeli government he wanted a freeze in settlements but no one took him seriously. Even Fox News — which his aides prominently said should not be treated like a real news organization — then got interview time for its White House correspondent.

"In truth, most of these episodes do not amount to much. But this unflattering storyline would take a more serious turn if Obama is seen as unable to deliver on his stern warnings in the escalating conflict with Iran over its nuclear program.

"He sees America as another pleasant country on the U.N. roll call, somewhere between Albania and Zimbabwe

"That line belonged to George H.W. Bush, excoriating Democrat Michael Dukakis in 1988. But it highlights a continuing reality: In presidential politics the safe ground has always been to be an American exceptionalist.

"Politicians of both parties have embraced the idea that this country — because of its power and/or the hand of Providence — should be a singular force in the world. It would be hugely unwelcome for Obama if the perception took root that he is comfortable with a relative decline in U.S. influence or position in the world.

"On this score, the reviews of Obama’s recent Asia trip were harsh.

"His peculiar bow to the emperor of Japan was symbolic. But his lots-of-velvet, not-much-iron approach to China had substantive implications.

"On the left, the budding storyline is that Obama has retreated from human rights in the name of cynical realism. On the right, it is that he is more interested in being President of the World than President of the United States, a critique that will be heard more in December as he stops in Oslo to pick up his Nobel Prize and then in Copenhagen for an international summit on curbing greenhouse gases.

"No figure in Barack Obama’s Washington, including Obama, has had more success in advancing his will than the speaker of the House, despite public approval ratings that hover in the range of Dick Cheney’s. With a mix of tough party discipline and shrewd vote-counting, she passed a version of the stimulus bill largely written by congressional Democrats, passed climate legislation, and passed her chamber’s version of health care reform. Just Say No!

When Nancy Reagan was asked by a little kid when she was the First Lady "What should I do if someone asks me to smoke (i.e. or do drugs)? she said, "Just Say No!" That launched a campaign all across the nation in every school about standing up, taking personal responsibility, and just saying NO! to things that will do us harm. I would like to propose to extend this campaign to stretch to other areas of our lives that our government is doing that will harm us as individuals, families, businesses, and our nation. JUST SAY NO!

The latest from FoxNews.com: "Two top Democrats say they want to impose a new tax on the wealthy to finance any increase in U.S. troops for the Afghanistan war.

"Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., chairman of the purse string-controlling House Appropriations Committee, is calling the idea a "war surtax." He said that just as the federal government is expected to pay for its proposed intervention in the health care sector with new taxes, any escalated involvement in Afghanistan should come with a payment plan."

This all comes about with President Obama's looming decision on his strategy in Afghanistan that he plans to announce on December 1st. It's only been since August that his general, Stanley McCrystal, has requested 40,000 more troops. Rep. David Obey said if an increase like that is approved without any payment mechanism, then other domestic initiatives would be wiped out.

What other domestic initiatives would be wiped out dare I ask? Oh how about the trillion dollar overhaul of our nation's health care, cap and trade, and other programs designed to bring our nation to socialism and the redistribution of wealth.

Our nation and government cannot continue to spend money that we don't have. In our own household, if we continue to live beyond our means and continue to spend money that we don't have it will eventually catch up with us. What happens then? Do we get a government bail out? No. We have to seriously get our finances under control, balance our budget, stop spending, and just say no to stuff we don't need! Either that or claim bankruptcy and start it all over again without any lessons being learned.

JUST SAY NO! to this new proposed "War Surtax!"

It's been a month since I last posted. I've still be anxiously engaged in listening, watching, and reading what's going on in the political world. We live in crazy times. There is seriously so much going on everyday it's very difficult to pick a topic, story, or news related issue and write about it. I want to blog about everything, but just don't have the time so I haven't posted at all.

If you'd like to stay on top of current political events I highly recommend listening or reading Glenn Beck. He has his own radio show and t.v. that I personally listen to everyday to stay on top of things. You can visit Glenn Beck's website to get airing times and radio/tv stations.

Hopefully I'll find the time post new entries in the near future.

Kevin Jennings: Obama's Safe School Czar

I'm beginning to lose count of just how many "czars" (a.k.a. personal advisers to the president) are under Obama's wing. I know it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-40, and despite criticism from his critics and how most of these individuals aren't confirmed by the Senate Obama continues to appoint them. That set aside, who exactly is Kevin Jennings and what does it mean to be the "Safe Schools Czar?"

"Jennings is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received a bachelor's degree magna cum laude in history from Harvard University, where he delivered the Harvard Oration at the 1985 commencement. He was a high school history teacher, first at Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island, from 1985 to 1987, and then at Conrad Academy in Concord, Massachusetts, from 1987 to 1995." SOURCE

Sounds like a normal everyday guy right? Not so fast..."He [Jennings] founded the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in Boston in 1990, which he seeks to end discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In 1992, he was appointed by Governor William Weld to co-chair the Education Committee of the Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth.

"...He has published six books in total on gay rights and education. His works have described his own past as a closeted gay student." SOURCE

In addition, Kevin Jennings described his past frequent drug abused in his 2007 autobiography, Mama's Boy, Preacher's Son: A Memoir.

"Technically, Jennings is not one of Obama's 'czars,' who are special advisors to the president accountable to no one but the president. Jennings was named to a post in the Department of Education. However, his hiring did not require legislative oversight, such as the Senate vetting process required for other appointees." SOURCE

Before this appointment, Kevin Jennings was the Assistant Deputy Secretary in the Office of Safe Schools. What do you think of when you hear the "Office of Safe Schools?" For me, it sounded like a job or institution to help keep our schools safe from drugs and violence and to protect kids from harmful things. As I said earlier that Jennings described his past frequent drug abuse in his autobiography leaves me to question how can he keep our schools safe from drugs when he himself was an drug abuser himself...and as far as I can tell unrepentant.

Now that he's heading the charge for safe schools, what exactly is his agenda? Does he honestly want to keep schools safe from drugs and violence or is it something else? If it is something else, what is it? Let's think about this...he is the founder of a homosexual-activists group (GLSEN), which promotes homosexual clubs in high school, middle schools, and grade schools. On Jennings' own website he talks about how his work as an activist started when he used a school assembly where he was a teacher to announce his homosexuality and started promoting homosexuality is schools.

In his own words Kevin Jennings said, "We immediately seized upon the opponent's calling card – safety – and explained how homophobia represents a threats to students' safety by creating a climate where violence, name-calling, health problems, and suicide are common. Titling our report, 'Making Schools Safe for Gay and Lesbian Youth,' we automatically threw our opponents onto the defensive and stole their best line of attack. This...short-circuited their arguments and left them back-peddling from day one." This silences any conservative opinion.

This all ties into a bill introduced to Congress, H.R. 2262, by U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CAL), which is "to amend the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act" to include pro-homosexual language that could use the issue of bullying to force indoctrination sessions for both teachers and students.

I'm sorry, but this kind of topic has no place in the classroom. It is meant to be taught in the home between parent and child. Having it taught in the classroom leaves it open for students to believe or think that homosexuality is a normal human behavior in their lifestyle. My belief (sticking to my guns and religion) is that this type of behavior is a "sin...a clean cut sin and the Lord will not tolerate it." (Signs of the Times, Don J. Black). If parents decide to teach their children about homosexuality that is their decision...not a teacher in a classroom.

Referring the Kevin Jennings, "This man's work and his agenda are exactly why we've seen the radical pro-homosexuality curriculum pushed across California. He is now more strongly positioned to implement his agenda nationwide," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

Judge and do research for yourself, but do you think that Kevin Jennings is the right person for the job?

How Close is President Obama to ACORN?

The community organization ACORN is currently under fire lately due to recent undercover videos showing ACORN employees giving advice to a pimp and prostitute on how to evade taxes and set up a brothel that includes underage girls. ACORN is also currently under investigation for voter fraud in at least 14 states across the nation...many employees have been convicted. The question remains how close is President Obama with ACORN?

Let's start with Obama's own words. This short video clip was during an interview with George Stephanopoulos on September 20, 2009...

Since these undercover videos have been released the Census Bureau severed ties with ACORN and will have no participation in the 2010 United States of American Census. Also, the House, Senate, and IRS have passed legislation to defund ACORN to stop government grants. In addition, almost 30 congressman have called for investigation into ACORN and their practices. In the above video President Obama passes it off by saying it's not something he's following closely, didn't know ACORN was even getting a lot of federal money, and not the biggest issue facing the country...he basically changes the subject.

Did you know that the $878 billion stimulus bill passed earlier this year, that President Obama signed, included $8.5 billion going to ACORN? So if Obama didn't know ACORN was getting a lot of federal funding he's admitting that he didn't read the bill. Here's some more words of President Obama and his relationship to ACORN during one of the presidential debates with John McCain. At the beginning of this clip Obama talks about his relationship with William Ayers (another story, another time) and then about one minute and fifty seconds he explains his relationshiop with ACORN...

Obama said, "...the only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them...in making Illinois implement a motor-voter law that helped people get registered at DMV's." In reality, Obama's relationship with ACORN goes back 20 years and are long-time friends. Let me explain...

As a lawyer, Barack Obama did represent ACORN in the motor-voter law as explained above, which has helped hundreds of thousands get registered to vote.

ACORN's political action committee endorsed Obama for president, and his campaign paid an ACORN susidiary $832,000 to help get out the vote.

Pre-law days, Obama was a community organizer and Madeleine Talbot, who at the time was a leader at Chicago ACORN, was so impressed with Obama's organizing skills that she invited him to help train her own staff.

Obama's long service with ACORN led many members to serve as the volunteer shock troops of Obama's early political campaign - his initial 1996 State Senate campaign, and his failed bid for Congress in 2000. With Obama having personally help train a new cadre of Chicago ACORN leaders, by the time of Obama's 2004 U.S. Senate campagin, Obama and ACORN were "old friends."

Chicago ACORN appears to have played a major role in Obama's political advance. Sure enough, a bit of digging into Obama's years in the Illinois State Senate indicates strong concern with ACORN's signature issues.

Obama served on boards of two charitable foundations, the Woods Fund and the Joyce Foundation, which allowed him to help direct tens of millions of dollars in grants to various liberal organizations, including Chicago ACORN, whose endorsement Obama saught and won in his State Senate race.

Obama not only sought and received the endorsement of ACORN's political arm in his local campaigns, he recently accepted ACORN’s endorsement for the presidency, in pursuit of which he reminded ACORN officials of his long-standing ties to the group.

Obama knows exactly who ACORN is and what they are all about. To think otherwise is ludicris.

ACORN, and other community organization are going to help "shape the agenda" and give "input" when Obama's in the White House. These community organization and political action groups are part of the "coalition of power" that Obama needs to bring about "redistributive change".

In 2001, on Chicago Public Radio Barack Obama said the following:

Now this is just the tip of the iceberg on what Obama wants to do this country...he said it himself five days before winning the elections: "We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America." I don't think this is the kind of hope and change Obama supporters were expecting.

Indoctrination of Children

At a New Jersey elementary school kindergarten children are instructed to sing praises to Barack Hussein Obama...

I think that this is totally messed in the head. If this had been one of my children I would be livid and be calling for the resignation or termination of the teacher or teachers responsible for filling my child's mind with blatant pro-Obama propaganda. I believe that our children need to learn U.S. History in school, but not the obvious indoctrination of a particular political figure regardless of who they are or what party of whom they belong. Unbelievable!

A week before this was released another video came out that supposedly has been shown in thousands of schools and religious organizations all across the country. It's called "The Story of Stuff." The full video is over twenty minutes long and can be viewed on their website, but here's a short clip...

The whole video is basically saying how capitalism (free market) is bad and consumption and production is bad and how it's the government's job to take care of every need of the people. The video is also sponsored/made by the Tides Foundation, which is a radical left community organization who's goal is social justice/socialism for our country. More to come about the Tides Foundation...that's a whole other story in and of itself. Unbelievable!

The Race Card

If you have seen, read, or heard the news recently you have probably noticed that the race card is being thrown around like the illegal advice given by ACORN workers to a pimp and prostitute on how to evade taxes and set up a brothel with underage girls from El Salvador. But that's a completely different story in an of itself (see previous posts).

Frankly, I am SICK of people using the "race" card all the time for everything. Mainly, if you oppose Barack Obama and/or any of his policies you're automatically considered a racist. It is absolutely ridiculous! My feeling is when a person accuses another of being a racist they themselves become the accused. My wife is a therapist and she would call it "projecting." Projecting is "giving an outward appearance, in order to avoid a direct connection or to disguise or inflate the real essence." (en.wikionary.org/wiki/projecting)

In other words, these individuals who call others racist feel and act exactly the same way that these so called racists do. According to my wife, it's such a cop-out of not being able to handle and talk about the real issues at hand. Probably because they know deep down in their empty heart and soul they know that we're right and they're wrong. Enough is enough! Unbelievable.

ACORN: The Beginning of the End

If you don't know about ACORN you probably get your news only from NBC, ABC, CBS, or MSNBC because they rarely if ever report anything about ACORN, which stands for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. FOXNEWS are the only ones reporting on the story.

ACORN in a NUTSHELL - During the 2004, 2008 presidential elections ACORN is being investigated in 15 different states for voter fraud by registering people to vote who had already registered, who didn't even exist, or are dead. ACORN members have been arrested and convicted, but the investigation is still continuing. By the way, Barack Obama used to represent ACORN as a lawyer and helped train their leaders. He continues to be friends with ACORN and gets their input to help shape his agenda in the White House.

Recently, ACORN is again getting unwanted attention. James O'Keefe, an independent film maker and friend Hannah Giles recently went undercover at a Baltimore ACORN housing office as a pimp and prostitute to see if and how far they would receive help for their thriving prostitution/child sex trade business. The two officials in Baltimore gave them advice on how to evade taxes or get around the illegalness of prostitution to make it look legal on paper. They even suggested changing the name of their "business" as a sole proprietorship as a "Performing Artist." Suggestions were also made to claim the 13 El Salvador 13-15 year olds as dependents.

The next day, new video was released from the same "pimp and prostitute" from a different ACORN location...Washington D.C. - our nation's capitol. Same story, same results. Again today, a few days later after the D.C. video surfaced the "pimp" and "prostitute" did a New York ACORN location (no pun intended). Guess what? Same story, same results. So, three different ACORN locations and at all three were given the same direction and advice to get around taxes or advice/help setting up their business by hiding it from the government.

THE BEGINNING OF THE END - Did you know that ACORN is mostly funded by government grants and tax payer money? That being said, we are technically paying for these ACORN officials to help others commit crimes. Since these videos have surfaced the following has taken place:

The Census Bureau has severed ties with ACORN. Yes in the past and up until the last few days ACORN has helped gather census data that happens every decade. Not anymore!
A few congressman in Washington have called for federal investigations into ACORN, particularly with their tax policies and auditing funds received by the government.
Today, the Senate voted overwhelmingly to stop funding to ACORN's housing department

MORE NEW VIDEO OF OTHER ACORN LOCATIONS TO COME AND HAVE BEEN PROMISED TO BE THE MOST DAMNING YET!

You would think that a story this big would be featured on the major mainstream news media outlets, but no. One must ask why? Either their clueless and don't see that there is even a story or they're complicit. If these news outlets continue as they do now, we may begin to soon see the beginning of the end for them as well because they won't have any viewers or readers to keep them going.

8 Years Ago Today...

I seriously cannot believe that it has been eight full years since our nation was attacked by ruthless terrorists slamming our own airplanes into the World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon. Like me, you will never forget exactly where you were and what you were doing when it seems like our world was falling apart.

Earlier this year President Obama signed into law to make September 11th a "National Day of Service." I whole heatedly believe in serving others and doing what we can to help others, but I think it would better and make sense that today be a "National Day of Remembrance." It almost seems like the people in power want us to forget what happened eight years ago.

Let's go back in time to September 11, 2001. The entire nation was in shock! I remember thinking that it felt like I was watching a movie and in disbelief that someone would attack us. Almost 3,000 people died this day...not only the people working in the towers, but the people who were on the planes and the selfless heroes who risked their lives to save others. Shouldn't we be remembering that and have the day of service on September 12th?

On the 12th America came together. It didn't matter who you were. It didn't matter if you were male or female, straight or gay, black or white, or Democrat or Republican. We came together as a nation that I had never seen before in my then 24 years of life and haven't seen anything like it since. I was working at a book and crafts store at the time and we were sold out of American flags for months as well as every other store in the city, state, and nation! Patriotism was at it's highest and we were willing to do anything to help those in need. Volunteers, giving blood, etc. were at it's highest and continued for months if not years. Never forget.

As we look back on this day eight years ago let's remember those victims and heroes and not desecrate their memory. Tomorrow, do your part to serve someone else and continue to help this nation be the greatest it can be!

ACORN also said that this same type of thing happened at three other locations and failed. Oh really? Well TODAY new video is released of the same couple doing the same thing, but this time at the Washington D.C.'s ACORN location. The ACORN employees continued to help and give advisement despite the illegal business that would be conducted. UNBELIEVABLE!

"Performing Artist" defined by two ACORN employees: A prostitute can be classified to be a performance artist.

It's true. Two Baltimore ACORN employees told an undercover pimp and prostitute that they could classify their work as being a "performing artist" for tax related purposes and continued to give tax advise including how to evade taxes on their "business."

I've said this before, and I'll say it again...Barack Obama is a very eloquent and persuasive speaker. He definitely delivers a good speech and to the under educated or uninformed person watching this tonight would be on board with the health care reform that President Obama is proposing. Make sure you read the speech and then take a look at this detailed FACT CHECK.

Over and over again and time after time Obama has said that his health care reform bill that you'll be able to keep your doctor and your current health insurance period. Tonight President Obama said, "Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Let me repeat this: Nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have." This time he didn't include "period." This much is true, but what happens when your employer decides to stop carrying their insurance because it's cheaper to "chip in" and then the employees choose the public option. They say the public option will compete with private insurance, but how can they compete with the government when they are both a provider and regulator?

Obama also said this to his "progressive" friends: "I would remind you that for decades, the driving idea behind reform has been to end insurance company abuses and make coverage available for those without it. The public option--the public option in only a means to an end, and we should remain open to other ideas that accomplish our ultimate goal."

What exactly is the ultimate goal? It's not like the progressives/liberals are hiding it...let's hear it from the horses mouth and from others who are close to the President.

Get Health Insurance...or Else!

August recess is officially over. The Senate and House representatives have returned to Washington battling out reform for health care. I watched C-SPAN2 for a little while today and heard discussions from Democratic and Republican Senators for and against health care reform. John McCain pointed out an article in the newspaper that a new proposal is emerging that would require individuals to purchase health care or be fined up to $3,800! Are you kidding me?!

From Yahoo! News: "Just as auto coverage is now mandatory in nearly all states, Baucus would require that all Americans get health insurance once the system is overhauled to make premiums more stable and affordable. Penalties for failing to do so would start at $750 a year for individuals and $1,500 for families. Households making more than three times the federal poverty level — about $66,000 for a family of four — would face the maximum fines. For families, it would be $3,800, and for individuals, $950."

Auto insurance and health insurance and two completely different types of coverage and can't believe they're are even comparing the two. Auto coverage is more for liability events where health insurance is for your personal care. There are millions of Americans who can afford health insurance, but choose not to have it and suddenly they're going to be fined because they don't have it?! ABSURD! Nobody, especially the government should force or require anyone to have health insurance.

Then there's the other side too - what about the individuals who don't have health insurance because they can't afford it? Suddenly they are also fined. How does the government expect them to pay a fine for not having health insurance when they can't afford health insurance in the first place? Obviously this hasn't been thought through and another way that our government is trying to screw us over and shove government run health care down our throats.

On my way to work his morning I was listening to a radio program where the host, I forget his name, was discussing President Obama's speech he's going to give to school kids. Indoctrination was being discussed...anyway, to make a long story short this caller basically said that all "you people" don't want Obama to give this speech because he's black. Really? I can't believe that people are still fixated on the color of skin of our president. Not just this guy, but there has been many, even in Washington and celebrities alike who say that anybody who disagrees with Obama's agenda is a racist and because he's black. I could care less. I do care about our President's policies and don't agree with 99% of the time. COLOR DOESN'T MATTER! GET OVER YOURSELF ALREADY! Unbelievable.

The debate isn't over! The current bill H.R. 3200 has gotta go or revised. On this same radio show I was listening to this morning a republican lawmaker was on talking about the 1,000+ page bill, which he actually read. Even though President Obama has said that we can keep our own doctor and private insurance if we want, but in the bill it says differently. In addition, Medigap is buh-bye, and much much more. Plus the individuals trying to push this through hasn't even read it! I'll try and get the audio/transcript...he pointed it out in much more detail.

Obama has always been a proponent of a single health care system that's run by the government. A public option is their doorway to getting it and IT WILL run private insurance out of business. ENOUGH OF THE PUBLIC OPTION ALREADY! IT WILL DRIVE THIS COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND! Unbelievable.

This is another bill that's trying get passed in the middle of the night. It passed the house before the August break and will be going to the Senate soon. Basically this is an energy tax bill that will increase energy costs up to $3,000 per year or more per family! Obama said it himself that his cap-and-trade bill will mean that energy companies will need to retrofit their operation to come to standards, which will cost money and those companies will pass that cost on to consumers. Watch the video here. SO MUCH FOR PROMISING NO TAX INCREASES, EH PRESIDENT OBAMA? Unbelievable.

--5,000 Year Leap
Continuing with the history of our nation and what the Founding Fathers believed, the book I'm reading, The 5,000 Year Leap is very interesting. I'm currently reading about how if our nation was to succeed and prosper with the Constitution and Declaration of Independence the people needed to be moral and virtuous, and they needed to elect virtuous officials. These officials needed to be elected not for self-serving reasons or greed, but to be a servant of the people. Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

From the book I quote: "Samuel Adams knew the price of American survival under a Constitutional form of government when he wrote: 'The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy the gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people; then shall we both deserve and enjoy it. Van Jones Resigns Amid Controversy

Green Jobs Czar and self-proclaimed Communist, Van Jones resigned early Sunday morning amid controversy surrounding past remarks and associations. The call for resignation came from top Republicans when audio/video emerged of Jones calling all Republicans "assholes" and for signing a petition for his belief that the Bush administration was somehow involved with the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

I find it interesting it was these two events that really got the ball rolling which led to his resignation and not for other previous statements and beliefs of Jones. Do we not care that he's a self-proclaimed terrorist? Do we not care that he believes that the Green Movement is the vehicle that will change our entire society as we know it? Do we not care that he thinks white people have been poisoning "our immigrants brothers and sisters?"

Also, why aren't we looking at our President Barack Obama? During the second presidential debate with John McCain he said that if you want to know what my beliefs are and where I stand on issues, look at the people that surround me. Does that mean that President Obama believes and thinks the same thing?

This I do know: Obama campaigned as a moderate and promised he's bring the Democratic and Republican parties together, but he has shown he is governing from the far left and is the most radical president we've had in history. It's my belief that Obama knows exactly who Van Jones was and his beliefs fell right in line with his own. Now he'll never say that and will chalk it up just like he did with Reverend Wright. We need to look at other individuals that surround our President.

Last time I checked, I thought the President and our elected officials in Congress were servants to the people and not the other way around. By the way, the President will be doing a nationwide speech to school children on Tuesday September 8, 2009 to further indoctrinate their young minds. Teachers receive instructions to give to their students on how to help President Obama because he has a really hard and lonely job. Instructions are also given on how to follow up with the children to make sure they are held accountable for their goal setting to help our President. The Federal Education System has suggested that an incentive/reward based program be used to help get the results the President wants from the children.

I've decided to take it upon myself to learn more about the history of America and what makes America so great and the "envy of the world." A friend recommended a book by W. Cleon Skousen called The 5,000 Year Leap. On pages 24-26 Skousen discussed "America's three-headed eagle." I was amazed at the simplicity and symbolism used to describe the three branches of our government and how they balance each other out on the ruler of law (see picture below).

Polybius, John Locke (no, not from LOST), and Baron Charles de Montesquieu had all advocated the separation of the governmental functions into three departments - legislative, executive, and judicial - the American Founders were the first to carefully structure what might be described as a three-headed eagle.
Quoting Skousen, "The central head was the law-making or legislative function with two eyes - the House and the Senate - and these must both see eye-to-eye on any piece of legislation before it can become law. A second head is the administrative or Executive Department with all authority centered in a single, strong President, operating within a clearly defined framework of limited power. The third head is the judiciary, which was assigned the task of acting as guardian of the Constitution and the interpretation of its principles as originally designed by the Founders."

These functions of government are genius to say the least. It called for the separation of powers, "but the fact that all three heads operated through a single neck. By this means the Founders carefully integrated these three departments so that each one was coordinated with the others and could not function independently of them."

The two wings of the eagle is where I found it most interesting. The Founders viewed Wing #1 as the problem-solving wing or the wing of compassion. Wing #2 as the conservation wing (Left/Right respectively). Referring to Wing #1, "those who function through this dimension of the system are sensitive to the unfulfilled needs of the people. They dream of elaborate plans to solve these problems.

"Wing #2 has the responsibility of conserving the nation's resources and the people's freedoms. It's function is to analyze the programs of wing #1 with two questions. First, can we afford it? Secondly, what will it do the rights and individual freedom of the people?"

Again I am amazed. Amazed that after more than 200 years it still applies today. Probably even more so than ever I dare say. What happens when both wings of the eagle fulfill their purpose? The eagle will fly straighter and higher than any other. The same goes for America. We will "fly straighter and higher than any other civilization in the history of the world." But what happens if one of the wings stop working? According the the Ruler's Law the nation will either drift towards tyranny or anarchy.

Skousen continues, "If wing #1 becomes infatuated with the idea of solving all the problems of the nation regardless of the cost, and wing #2 fails to bring its power into play to sober the problem-solvers with a more realistic approach, the eagle will spin off toward the left, which is tyranny. On the other hand, if wing #1 fails to see the problems which need solving and wing #2 becomes inflexible in its course of not solving problems simply to save money, or not disturb the status quo, then the machinery of the government loses its credibility and the eagle drifts over toward the right where the people decide to take matters into their own hands. This can eventually disintegrate into anarchy."

I often wondered where left and right wing came from in the political arena and wanted to share my new found knowledge. Our Founding Fathers were truly remarkable men with sound understanding and with the inspiration of God were able to come up with our system of government that allows each one of us to have the freedoms that we love and enjoy so much that often we take for granted.

Questions To Ask Our Government

Is is wrong to ask questions? Especially when it comes to what our government elected officials are doing? Why are Americans all across the country being attacked for boldly questioning during townhall meetings? I believe it is our right and duty to question the government. We should ask questions with boldness. Below are some questions that we should demand our government to answer:

Our unfunded liability for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is close to $100 trillion. Is there any way to pay for these programs without bankrupting America?

We are in so much debt, why spend more borrowed money on cap-and-trade and healthcare programs before we stop the flow of red-ink?

The stimulus package funneled billions of dollars to ACORN. How does giving billions of dollars to ACORN stimulate the economy?

If it was so important for congress to pass the stimulus bill before they even had time to read it why has only a fraction of the stimulus money been spent 6 months later?

Bush said he had to abandon free market principles in order to save them, how exactly does that work?

Why won’t member of Congress read the bills before they vote on them?

Why are citizens mocked and laughed at when they ask their congressman to read the bills before they vote on them?

Was the cash-for-clunkers program meant to save the earth or the economy? Did it accomplish either?

How did Van Jones, a self-proclaimed communist become a special advisor to the president?

Did President Obama know of Van Jones’ radical political beliefs when he named him special advisor?

The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for writing the stimulus bill—why was this group allowed to write any portion of this bill?

If politicians aren’t writing the bills and aren’t reading the bills, do they have any idea what these 1000 page plus bills actually impose on the American people?

If the ‘public option’ health care plan is so good why won’t politicians agree to have that as their plan?

If town hall meetings are intended for the politicians to learn what’s on our mind—why do they spend so much time talking instead of listening?

Politicians are refusing to attend town hall meetings complaining, without evidence, that they are scripted. Does that mean we shouldn’t come out and vote for you since every campaign stop, baby kiss and speech you give is scripted?

Why would you want to overwhelm the system?

Is using the economic crises to rush legislation through congress what Rahm Emanuel meant when he talked about not letting a crises go to waste?

What are the czars paid? What is the budget for their staffs/offices?

These are questions that Glenn Beck asked tonight on his t.v. show on Fox News. He also asks, "Am I hateful for asking these questions?" All week Glenn will try and answer these questions. One thing that I've learned from Glenn Beck since watching/listening to him, he doesn't discuss anything without extensive research and making sure he can back it up with facts. I encourage you to watch the Glenn Beck show this week on Fox News this week (5pm EST/3pm MST and then replays at 12am MST - set your DVR) and get informed on how Obama is fundamentally transforming America...not in a good way.

Social Security Benefits: A True Story

For the past twenty years Stacey has been collecting social security benefits from the federal government because of a "disability." This disability doesn't keep her from working full-time as she is perfectly able. Rather, it's more of an excuse not to work as she feels she deserves and is entitled to this money because of past events that has happened in her life.

Stacey receives three quarters of a thousand dollars every month, which in today's economy doesn't go very far. In fact, Stacey needs to make an additional three hundred dollars each month just to meet all of her financial obligations and to have a little spending money. In the meantime, Stacey started using credit cards to make ends meet and racked up a couple of thousand dollars in debt.

A few months ago Stacey came into some money ($20K+). She met with a financial counselor (good) to plan what she should do with the money. Stacey didn't follow the advice given to her (bad) and has maybe $5,000 left. It was advised to pay off all of her credit cards and loans and put the rest away and continue to make due with benefits received from the government. Soon, Stacey will be back to where she was just a few months ago.

The financial counselor encouraged Stacey to increase her income by getting job so she wouldn't have to use her nest egg. Stacey explained that she needs to find a job where she won't make more than $500 per month or pays her cash under the table or her social security benefits will go away. Stacey has become SO dependent on social security that it keeps her from rejoining the work force and becoming a productive member of society. Stacey has become a "gullible gull." WHAT IS A GULLIBLE GULL?

What is the moral of this story? Social Security is flawed. Stacey shouldn't be receiving this money, but does. Since she has been receiving it for the past twenty years or so she is literally unable to live without it. According to a recent news article, one economic analyst said that social security will probably implode within the next two years. What happens to Stacey when the income stops arriving? How is she able to survive? She has forgotten how to work and be self-sufficient and will continue to get free handouts. If not from the government, she'll try and get it from friends, neighbors, and/or family.

And to think that our government wants to provide a "public health care option" for health care despite overwhelming evidence that IT DOES NOT WORK! Obama says it will compete. But how can private insurance compete with the government when they are also the regulator? How can private insurance compete when the government subsidises health care? IT DOES NOT WORK! The President must realize this...he's a smart man isn't he? Guys? I just don't understand it...IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! I'm all for health care reform to bring costs and premiums down, but a public option isn't the way to do it. I believe health care is a privilege, not a right.

Dave Ramsey's Take On "Cash For Clunkers"

Why is Dave Ramsey passionately opposed to the government's Cash for Clunker program? Watch the video below young grasshopper...

The program, when started had a $1 billion fund and was supposed to last three months. Within the first week the billion dollars was gone! Another $2 billion was passed through the House and Senate praising the success. What a crock! How can we expect the government to run health care if they can't even manage a cash for clunkers program. If they tell us it's going to cost us 1.5 trillion dollars for health care reform over the next decade they're really telling us it's going to cost us 4.5 trillion. That's a whole other story in and of itself.

There are other ripple effects of this clunkers program. Used car sales are now suffering because when someone turns in their clunker the dealership is then required to make that clunker inoperable then then destroyed. Nothing of the car can be used ever again. Smart Washington...real smart.

Why the Rush? A New Look...

On the drive to work this afternoon I was listening to Sean Hannity on talk radio. He was taking calls and one of these callers made an interesting point that I had never thought of before…neither had Sean. This is what she pointed out:

There has been big push and rush to get health care reform passed in the House and Senate these last couple of months. President Obama wanted it passed before the August recess, but since it didn’t happen he’s now shooting by the end of the year…and is determined that it will. It’s all about politics and for Obama to get re-elected for a second term.

This is the point the caller made – If the health care reform bill does pass, it’s schedule not to be enacted into law and phased in until 2013. If there has been such a big rush to get it passed why not enact it as soon as possible? Politics. Obama knows that if enacted and phased in as soon as it passed America will see that Medicare benefits dropped or reduced and employer coverage will start to go away, and if that happens America will be in uproar and there is no way that he’ll be re-elected for another term. If however it’s not enacted until 2013, after he’s been re-elected, there’s nothing the American people can do about it.

This is an interesting observation that needs more attention.

Right Before Our Eyes

There have been times in my life where I'm searching for something specific. For example, I'm trying to find those chocolate chip granola bars in the pantry. I know that we have them, but I search and search and search and for the life of me can't find them. I then ask my wife where they might located. She comes into the kitchen, opens the pantry door, and pulls them out on the eye level shelf...they were right before my eyes and didn't even see it! Has that ever happened to you?

I think that is what's happening today with most of the American people. President Obama's agenda and vision of where he wants to take America is right before our eyes and we're not even seeing it. I hope to be my "wife" that is able to point these things out to you.

President Obama has told us exactly what he believes and what he wishes to do when it comes to health care "reform." He has said it specifically word for word, but most of us, especially the main stream media isn't seeing the bigger picture! Take last night for example, August 11, 2009, Obama held a town hall meeting in New Hampshire to promote and defend the health care bill he's promoting. During that town hall meeting he said:

"I have never said that I want a single payer health care system."

In 2003, during a Civil, Human, and Women's Rights Conference he said this:

"I happen to be a proponent of single payer universal health care plan...A single payer health care plan…a universal health care plan. That’s what I’d like to see." (See video below)

So which is Mr. President? America! He has said that he wants a single payer universal health care system! It's right before our eyes! Today he's saying what he needs to say to get his bill passed. If a public option is made available it will inevitably lead to universal health care and run the private industry out of business.

While our congressman/congresswomen are home for their August recess please call, email, write, go to town halls and make your voice known that you're against universal health care, more specifically a public option. We need to let the government that the people are in charge and they work for us...not the other way around. YOU can make a difference!

People Speaking Out Under Attack

What happened to America? I don't recognize it anymore. Sometimes it feels like I'm in a different country. One of the greatest freedoms that we have is our right to peaceful protest, to speak out and voice our opinion, and to question our elected officials. My previous post talked about town hall meetings where American citizen were doing just that. Since then the DNC (Democratic National Committee) and the White House has attacked our God given right calling them right-wing extremist mobs. Even going as far as these town halls being "manufactured" and set up by the health insurance companies. This is absolutely ludicrious! I mean it's natural human reaction and emotion to get defensive when somone opposes your point of view, but these our our elected officials whom are the voice of the people. Their job is to listen to the people and hear from all points of view, but instead they are targeting them and demonizing them. All I can say is that if they do not listen to the voice of the people, they will soon be out of a job.

We the People are Speaking Out

As the August recess for Congress is underway, many congressman are going back home and holding Town Hall Meetings with their constituents. One such meeting in Philidelphia, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Senator Arlen Specter got more than they bargained for. A woman in the audience had this to say:

“I look at this health care plan…I see nothing about health or about care. What I see…what I see is a bureaucratic nightmare Senator. Medicaid is broke. Medicare is broke. Social Security is broke. And you want us to believe that a government that can’t even run a “cash for clunkers” program is going to run one seventh of our U.S. economy! No sir! No!”

This is not an isolated incident either. A slue of other congressman are facing the same things. I believe that America is beginning to wake up, speaking up, and making their voices heard! Below is a video montage of town hall meetings...

Obama Officials: Taxes May Rise to Pay Health Care

Remember back on the campaign trail that Obama said that if you make less than $250,000 you will not see one penny of your taxes increase in any form? Yah, well, "two of President Barack Obama's economic heavyweights said middle-class taxes might have to go up to pare budget deficits or to pay for the proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system."

The news came from Tax Cheat Treasury Secretary Timoth Geithner and National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers on Sunday. "They both sidestepped questions on Obama's intentions about taxes. Geithner said the White House was not ready to rule out a tax hike to reduce the federal deficit; Summers said Obama's proposed health care overhaul needs funding from somewhere."

Another campaign promise broken. "There is a lot that can happen over time," Summers said, adding that the administration believes "it is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out, no matter what."
